Thank you to the National NSTA for hosting the National Conference on Science Education in Houston, Texas this year!

Calling all FUTURE SCIENCE TEACHERS🧪🧬👩‍🏫🧑‍🏫,

We’ve got an exciting speaker meeting THIS TUESDAY April 5th in EHS 311 at 7pm!

Special guest Paige Keeley, an experienced author, speaker and a former NSTA President, with expert knowledge in STEM education as well as formative assessments, will be joining us virtually to discuss formative assessments in science education.

While Paige will be joining us virtually, this is an in-person meeting that is open to everyone who is interested!

She has published an entire series on “Uncovering Students Ideas in Science” that’s helps teachers apply better formative assessments for all science content areas, as well as many research articles surrounding assessments in STEM!

Regardless of who said it, they were absolutely right! In case you missed last night’s game night, to say it was a gg (good game) is an understatement!

I would like to introduce our second newest E-Board member, Emma Harma!

Emma has recently joined NSTA E-Board as of this semester! She helps everyone on E-Board with some of their jobs and wherever she is needed. Although her position does not have an official name she has proven to be a very important part of NSTA’s E-Board.

Emma is a freshman here at CMU with an intended major in Secondary Education with a focus in Integrated Science and a double minor in music and leadership. She is from Marquette, MI and she has two dogs named Red and Pippin.

Thank you for all the hard work you put into NSTA!

At the beginning of the semester we gained two new E-board members and one of them is Morgan Glann!

Morgan is NSTA’s new Secretary! She is in charger of keeping track of all the paperwork like our fundraising forms, flyers and parent sheets. She helps NSTA stay organized!

Although she has not been here long Morgan has been doing some very meaningful work and we really appreciate her efforts.

Morgan is a sophomore majoring Integrated Science for Secondary Education! She likes to spend most of her time outside of school with her horse (in the photo) named Marvin, as well as with her family and friends! Morgan also really enjoys reading, and watching TV shows/movies.

Please meet our next and oldest E-board member: Tramae Powell!

Tramae has been in NSTA since the Fall of 2018 and is the oldest member that we currently have on E-board (aside from our faculty advisor Jim McDonald)! She is the Social Media chair. Which puts her in charge of all our social media posts (including this one lol) and our club socials. She is like a connection from E-bird to the members. She very much enjoys this position and is proud to represent NSTA on social media!

Tramae is a senior this year (so she will be leaving next semester to student teach :(: ) with a major Intergraded Science with a focus in Secondary Education, and she also holds a minor in Spanish. Tramae really enjoys traveling and making friends, and she LOVES street tacos!
