Before the sun rises, before the world begins its daily noise, Barbara Whitaker Lee is already awake. At 4:30 each morning, she moves quietly into a space set aside for prayer. In the stillness, she resists the urge to speak first. Instead, she listens. Only then does she ask, “Lord, what would you have me to do today?” It is a simple question. It is also the foundation of her life.

After eight years in the United States Marine Corps, Victor Nieves Vazquez is launching a new mission in cybersecurity. A May 2026 graduate of the University of Mount Olive, Victor used his GI Bill benefits to transition into the Cybersecurity and Applied Computer Science program.

After graduating Summa Cum Laude with a 3.94 GPA and earning the prestigious Elite 23 award , she is ready to pursue her passion for small animal specialty care and veterinary research.
