Rones Chapel Area Community Center

Rones Chapel Area Community Center COMMUNITY: a feeling of fellowship with others; sharing an attitude of honoring individual diversit We serve the area with a multi-purpose community center.

About the Rones Chapel Area Community Center:
In the Fall of 2015, a group of area residents worked together to establish the Rones Chapel Area Community Center (RCACC) as a non-profit organization. (We pronounce RCACC as "R - Cack.") RCACC is dedicated to improving lives through education, wellness initiatives, and community enrichment opportunities. We are IRS approved as tax-exempt under Intern

al Revenue Code Section (501(c)(3) making donations tax deductible. Our vision is to provide a venue for healthy body/mind/spirit activities with an emphasis on the inclusiveness of the diversity of our area. We do not discriminate on the basis of race, ethnicity, culture, gender identity, sexual orientation, or economic situation. We celebrate diversity, encourage unity, and work to develop cohesive community. The community center is intended to be multi-generational with programs to serve our entire area community over time. Our intent is to complement and support, not duplicate, what others in our area are doing. In addition to programs we develop, we partner with local non-profits, schools, businesses, and county and state government offices to offer educational and community-oriented opportunities. We host meetings and events as well as disseminate information for others who are providing programs and services to the community. We lease historic Cobb School as our home facility thanks to the generosity of the Duplin County Board of Education. This circa 1920 one-room school building is located on Highway 403 near the intersection of Rones Chapel Road, NC Highway 403, and Summerlin’s Crossroads Road in the Rones Chapel Community about 2 miles east of Mount Olive town limits. As part of our overall effort, we have improved and preserve the building to continue to serve the community. Our opening date was June 1, 2016. We started with two “anchor” programs:

(1) Tutor to the Top (T2T): Free tutoring for students grades K-12. We provide one-on-one instruction to support the learning needs of kids across the academic spectrum from those who need help meeting basic proficiency to "pass," to those who can improve their grades from average to something more, to those who may need some help with Honors level work and ACT/SAT preparation. (2) REAP: A Wellness program including fitness classes; open gym; stress reduction activities; access to blood pressure, blood glucose, and weight monitoring equipment; and educational talks and activities. If you have questions about the community center or our programs, please send a message through Messenger, send an email to [email protected] or call 919-658-0476 to leave a message with your name and phone number. If you call, please speak very clearly and very slowly all the way to the end of your phone number. The call will be returned as soon as possible, usually the next day. Please remember to leave your call back number in your voice message and to speak slowly and clearly. If we haven't returned your call by the next day, it's probably because we couldn't understand all the numbers of your phone number. Please call and let us try again. Please let us know if there are programs and activities you'd like to see in our area. Thank you for all your support.
