BSA Troops 284 and 9284 were excited to help lead this year’s Veterans Day celebration for the Mount Lebanon Veterans. It was a chilly afternoon and the ceremony was moved indoors in order to pay tribute to those who’ve served. Our Scouts were proud to be part of it. Thanks to everyone who came out to support! Here are a few photos from the day.

More Scouts earned their Horsemanship badge last weekend! 🐴
They learned the basics of horse care and gave their new friends plenty of pets and attention. The highlight, of course, was getting to ride and put their new skills into practice. A big accomplishment and an unforgettable experience!

Troop 9284 completed the Horsemanship Merit Badge and had a fantastic time at South Park Stables while learning about horse safety, barn fire precautions, horse breeds and their common health issues. They also practiced grooming, feeding, saddling and had tons of fun horseriding!

Many thanks to the instructors and the amazing horses that helped our scouts grow in confidence, skill, and respect for these awesome animals!

A weekend of fishing, caving, and outdoor fun is in the books! Our scouts explored Laurel Caverns, spotted bats, and learned about the history and early explorers of the caves.
In the afternoon the troops were joined by Mr. Peltz for a fishing lesson at Lake Courage. Kora wowed everyone by reeling in six fish with β€˜Kora’s Method,' while Martha celebrated catching her very first fish! The day ended around the campfire with chili and s’mores; a perfect close to a day of adventure and teamwork.

We are thrilled to announce that Owen Byrne is now Troop 284's newest Eagle Scout. πŸ™πŸ‘ Congratulations to Owen and his family! His name will be added to our Eagle plaque at the next Court of Honor.

We hope he won't mind, but here's a throwback to his Cub Scout days in Pack 28, as a reminder to those who may have crossed over recently: yes, you can go from Cub Scouts to Eagle Scout! Just stick with it! πŸ’ͺ

Scouts paddled down Chartiers Creek last Saturday on a special canoe trip, tackling litter and debris along the waterway. The 5 hour effort not only cleared trash from the creek banks and water, but also raised awareness of how small actions can make a difference in the preservation of the beautiful nature that surrounds our city. It also reflected core Scouting values of responsibility, community service, teamwork, and respect for nature. πŸš£β€β™‚οΈπŸž

Troops 284 and 9284 closed out summer with an action-packed week at Camp Heritage! πŸ• A downpour on day one made pitching tents a true test of teamwork, but spirits soared and the rest of the week brought fair skies and plenty of adventure. Scouts tackled challenges head-on, racking up an impressive 70 merit badges and achieving notable rank advancements. πŸ’ͺπŸ‘
A huge thank you πŸ™ to our amazing Scoutmasters, tireless parent volunteers, and outstanding senior patrol leaders, Westin and Camille, for making this summer camp a resounding success!
