BSA Troops 284 and 9284 were excited to help lead this yearβs Veterans Day celebration for the Mount Lebanon Veterans. It was a chilly afternoon and the ceremony was moved indoors in order to pay tribute to those whoβve served. Our Scouts were proud to be part of it. Thanks to everyone who came out to support! More Scouts earned their Horsemanship badge last weekend! π΄
They learned the basics of horse care and gave their new friends plenty of pets and attention. The highlight, of course, was getting to ride and put their new skills into practice. A big accomplishment and an unforgettable experience!

A weekend of fishing, caving, and outdoor fun is in the books! Our scouts explored Laurel Caverns, spotted bats, and learned about the history and early explorers of the caves.
In the afternoon the troops were joined by Mr. Peltz for a fishing lesson at Lake Courage. Kora wowed everyone by reeling in six fish with βKoraβs Method,' while Martha celebrated catching her very first fish! The day ended around the campfire with chili and sβmores; a perfect close to a day of adventure and teamwork.

We are thrilled to announce that Owen Byrne is now Troop 284's newest Eagle Scout. ππ Congratulations to Owen and his family! His name will be added to our Eagle plaque at the next Court of Honor.
We hope he won't mind, but here's a throwback to his Cub Scout days in Pack 28, as a reminder to those who may have crossed over recently: yes, you can go from Cub Scouts to Eagle Scout! Just stick with it! πͺ

Scouts paddled down Chartiers Creek last Saturday on a special canoe trip, tackling litter and debris along the waterway. The 5 hour effort not only cleared trash from the creek banks and water, but also raised awareness of how small actions can make a difference in the preservation of the beautiful nature that surrounds our city. It also reflected core Scouting values of responsibility, community service, teamwork, and respect for nature. π£ββοΈπ
