I studied violin as a child and, after a hiatus of ...many years... returned to the violin under Linda's instruction. I have worked with her for a little over two years now, and my playing has improved dramatically. After my first lesson, I couldn't wait to go back for my second and learn more. I do not recommend Linda's instruction if you want to learn how to play songs *right now*. But if you, like me, are interested in serious long-term study, you will be impressed by Linda's pedagogy.
Some examples:
*I have studied music with several instructors, but Linda is the only one who has assigned literally fifteen or so books and cycles them each week. The advantage of this approach is one of both breadth and depth. As I said before, this is a commitment for the long-term: If you stay the course, you'll have learned the techniques from a wide variety of books, but you will also have covered the entire series of those books.
*Reviews: Linda is the only music instructor I've worked with who reviews books we've covered in their entirety. This allows a student to truly master the material at that level before moving to the next.
I would say that if Linda has a fault, she's too friendly. :-) She's extremely kind and takes a genuine interest in the lives of her students, as well as in their advancement as developing musicians. I will never be a professional musician, but violin has become a serious hobby for me, as well as a real passion. If you feel similarly, even if you know absolutely nothing about music or haven't picked up your instrument in a lonnnng time, I recommend working with Linda.
