I had a great opportunity to share a few important career ready tips with the summer interns hired through the Camden County Workforce Development Board a few weeks ago, and I received this note! Internships prepare young people for their next steps and make a tremendous impact on the workforce. 👏🏽👏🏽✨️✨️Today we celebrate interns, and I could not let this moment pass without thanking Madison McDaniel for supporting me as I launched my book and began presenting , sharing newsletters, and other information to members of the community. Madison, thank you for all you have done to help with resources, presentations, QR codes, and so much more. I can't wait to see what you do next as you take on your new endeavors! 👏🏽👏🏽✨️✨️

✨️When I took on the role of Postsecondary and Alumni Engagement at NAF in 2021, my mentor at that time emphasized the importance of finding a mentor in higher education. I began to share this request within my network, and of course my network never disappoints! Robin A. Walton my friend said ," you need to meet Dr. Barbara Gaba !". Well, that was absolutely the truth! Dr. Gaba and I have met over the years and she has taken my questions, made introductions, and helped me deepen my understanding of Postsecondary systems, programs, and organizations. As she begins to transition from College President to her next chapter, I cannot thank you enough for your support, the candid discussions, and the guidance provided. Congratulations on your well deserved retirement, I look forward to watching your next chapter unfold! ✨️

🎊Anniversary Reflection
One Year of Fuel Your Future

🔷️One year ago, I launched Fuel Your Future: Power Up for the World of Work with a clear purpose: to help students, emerging professionals, educators, and workforce leaders better understand the evolving world of work and the power skills needed to thrive within it.

🔷️Around that same time, I also launched my Career Connection Newsletter as a way to continue the conversation beyond workshops, presentations, and speaking engagements—creating a space to share insights, resources, workforce trends, leadership reflections, and practical strategies that help people navigate college, career, and future-readiness with confidence. 🔷️As I reflect on this first anniversary, I am deeply grateful. Grateful for every educator who invited me into classrooms and professional development spaces. Grateful for every student who shared their aspirations, questions, and fears about the future. Grateful for college and university partners, nonprofit leaders, workforce professionals, corporate partners, and community organizations that continue to believe in the importance of preparing people not just for jobs, but for meaningful and sustainable careers.

🔷️This year reinforced something I have always believed: Career readiness is no longer optional—it is essential.

🔷️We are living in a rapidly changing workplace shaped by technology, AI, shifting workforce expectations, and evolving definitions of leadership and success. Yet even in the midst of change, the human-centered skills remain critical: communication, adaptability, emotional intelligence, collaboration, professionalism, critical thinking, networking, and purpose-driven leadership.

🔷️What has encouraged me most over the past year is seeing how strongly these conversations resonate across generations and industries. Whether I am speaking with high school students preparing for graduation, college students navigating internships, educators supporting career-connected learning, or employers seeking future-ready talent, the message is the same: people want practical tools, authentic guidance, and meaningful connection.

🔷️As I move into year two, I am committed to elevating the impact and engagement around this work in even deeper ways.

🌟🌟Here are three action steps I am taking to move this mission forward:

1. Expanding Interactive Learning Experiences

I will continue building more dynamic workshops, training experiences, reflection activities, and career readiness tools connected to the themes in the book and newsletter. This includes resources focused on power skills, AI and workforce readiness, personal branding, networking, leadership development, and navigating the future workplace.

2. Strengthening Cross-Sector Partnerships

I am intentionally deepening partnerships with K–12 school districts, colleges and universities, nonprofits, workforce development organizations, and corporate leaders to create stronger bridges between education and industry. Collaboration across sectors is essential if we truly want to prepare emerging professionals for long-term success.

3. Increasing Access and Reach

🔷️I am committed to reaching more audiences through speaking engagements, professional development sessions, student workshops, conference presentations, webinars, strategic collaborations, and expanded digital content. The goal is simple: meet people where they are and provide actionable, relevant, and empowering guidance that helps them move forward.

🔷️This work has never been just about a book or a newsletter. It has always been about people. About helping others recognize their potential, develop confidence, build meaningful networks, and understand that their experiences, skills, and voice matter in the world of work.

🔷️As I celebrate this milestone, I also recognize that the work ahead is even more important than the work behind us. I remain available and committed to sharing my expertise.

🔷️Thank you to everyone who has supported, encouraged, partnered with, and engaged with this journey over the past year. The momentum is growing, the conversations are evolving, and the mission continues. The future of work is changing.
