So grateful for the opportunity to partner with Winston Prep to speak with families about one of the hardest and most important questions many parents face:

What happens when the traditional school model just isn’t enough?

Together, we explored the differences between school-based and private support, how to recognize when a child may need something more individualized, and how executive functioning, social communication, language, and emotional regulation challenges can show up beyond academics.

These conversations matter. Families deserve to understand their options, feel empowered to ask questions, and know that there is no “one size fits all” path for supporting a child.

Presuming competence means we start with belief.

It means we assume our learners are capable of understanding, thinking, feeling, and learning—even when they can’t yet show it in typical ways.

It looks like:
✨ Speaking to them with respect
✨ Offering rich language and meaningful experiences
✨ Holding high expectations while providing the right support

Because when we presume competence, we don’t limit potential—we create space for it to grow.

Every child deserves to be seen for who they can be, not just what they can currently show. 💛
