Our Prek A class, along with other classes, started the new school year but creating about me posters. By doing this big project it allows the children to talk about everything that makes them, them! Such as family, favorite activity, favorite color, favorite sport, etc. The children think this project is just an opportunity for them to talk about themselves, but they are actually meeting a couple of our TN-ELDs (developmental standards) in this process! The TN-ELDs they are using are PK.SL.PKI.4, PK.SL.PKI.6, PK.SL.PKI.5, Social Emotional-Self-Awareness/Self-Concept, and Language/Communication. The Tn-ELD that really highlights this project is PK.SL.PKI.4: “Children describe familiar people, place, things, and events and provide additional details with support. This fits when children describe themselves and their favorite things.”
