Thank you Tammy Hatcher and the homeschooling group at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Salisbury for visiting the seminary with your children recently. We love visitors and the seminarians enjoy sharing their experiences and the place itself. This day, Michael Herman, from Sacred Heart, led the hosting committee and took great care of our guests.

Thanks be to God, the Daughters of the Virgin Mary has another professed sister. Sr. Mary Lucia of the Seven Sorrows made her final vows the other day, accompanied by her family, friends, and, of course, the DVM. Please pray for her and for all of the daughters, as well as for all the young women of our diocese to find and follow their vocation.

A few years ago, many of you provided the means by which a group of students from UNCC, led by Abigail Rose, could establish our Marian Grotto. Recently, Fr. Kauth was able to bless the same grotto with Abigail, Steven, and many of the other erstwhile builders in attendance. Deacon Tim Mueller and his wife Phyllis have also been instrumental in the construction, upkeep, and beautification of this wonderful space of prayer, where one can be silent in the company of Our Lady surrounded by water and trees. May God reward Abigail and her team, and thank you for your volunteering on behalf of the seminary!

Friends, it is hard to keep up with the chapel construction progress. The team here is relentless and we can see the fruits of their labor ripen from day to day. While the interior details reveal Fr. Kauth's vision more and more, the outside is coming closer to completion too. The chapel looks like a ship plowing through the choppy waters of the world. The bells are in place, covered, awaiting the tall spire that will protect them. The East facing rose window casing is being installed, with one half facing in, and another to the outside. If you look closely at the interior picture, you will see a lot of detail on the columns and in the vaulted ceilings. Enjoy these pictures and keep an eye on the construction cam too: https://app.oxblue.com/cameras/2876fa0793134f25d944e3523f725554?openlink=edifice/stjosephs

At Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Salisbury, NC, ten men are welcomed to discern and grow in their vocation to the sacred priesthood. Please pray for these men and for all young people in our diocese, that that may hear God’s call in their lives.
