☀ School may have been on hiatus over the summer, but some NMH students stayed active around campus, helping to w**d and plant on the farm , clean campus facilities, and give tours to prospective students, among other workjobs.

💭 "Through workjob, you get to meet the people who are helping the campus operate in different ways," said Charlotte Sell ’28. "It gives you an appreciation for how much it takes to maintain this campus, while also providing an opportunity to lend a hand."

🌎 A Tradition of Global Service

👉 Elias Thomas ’65 spent a week in the Indian state of Rajasthan last winter, sleeping in a tent and spending his days helping construct a water-catchment dam along a dried riverbed. It was his 25th trip to India to do volunteer work through Rotary International International. He’s also helped immunize children against polio, build a computer training facility for local residents, and construct a childcare center.

🩵 NMH’s work program, he says, instilled in him “a pretty decent work ethic” — one that, 61 years after his graduation, is still in full evidence.

☀ NMH Summer 2026 brought students from across the globe to campus in July for four weeks of learning, recreation, and memory-making, with an exciting variety of academic classes, extracurricular activities, and off-campus field trips.

💥 This summer marked the completion of This Place, This Moment: The Campaign for Northfield Mount Hermon.

✨ This campaign challenged us in new ways, as alumni, parents, and friends leaned into our ambitions for our school.

🩵 Together, we asserted NMH’s place among the very best institutions in the country and, collectively, we contributed more than $294 million — one of the largest campaigns ever for any independent school.

❗ Coming this fall: NMH’s new multisport field house!

👉 The facility, on the site of the old McCollum Arena, will provide additional indoor practice space for our sports programs and be a venue for large-scale events, benefitting the entire campus community.

🏒 The field house isn’t the only new building on campus: This fall, we’ll also celebrate the opening of The Ice Barn, the new home of our growing hockey program.

💭 "We're excited to figure out the possibilities of what can happen," said Telia Marks-McCall, NMH’s new athletics director. "We already have great facilities, and we’re continuing to add to them. Hopefully, it's sending a message to our student population that these are bases for you to grow from."
