Mark your calendars for our Trick or Treat Trail at Headwaters Outdoor Education Center for Saturday, October 17th, starting at 4:00pm. This event is at no cost, just come dressed in your favorite costume.

The new Story Walk Trail Book is up and ready for you to read at Headwaters.
"Have you Heard the Nesting Bird" by Rita Gray....
The trails are mowed, cleared and ready for action. Take a morning walk and read this cute book that Mt. Mount Gilead Public Library - Lisa King, has installed. At the end of the trail, you will see a pleasant surprise -
Park Avenue Elementary student, Ramsey Snedegar wrote a poem that was part of the "Poetry Collection" for Morrow Soil and Water Conservation District to display at Headwaters. Ramsey wrote "Springtime Song" and it is "nestled" within the new Story Walk Trail!!! If you know Ramsey or read her poem, please tag or mention her in the comments below.

Wild Days 2026 - Day 3!!! We had 3 hot and humid mornings, but campers, presenters, volunteers and helpers pushed through to finish strong!!

Thank you to Sharon Kincaid for demonstrating how to make homemade butter, Kim Forget - "Historical use of shells, Pete and Rhonda Dettra "A toy from the past"-cornhusk dolls and Tyler Butler - "Shells in Ohio and what lives in them".

Already planning for Wild Days 2027 - Have a great Summer and THANK YOU to ALL the parents, grandparents and others that registered the kiddos and brought them out to Headwaters Outdoor Education Center. You truly help make this happen!!

ANOTHER DAY of WILD DAYS 2026 IS IN THE BOOKS!!!

The campers had another warm morning but were troopers as we started off with the Pledge of Allegiance and some morning stretches. After that, each group went off to their first station for the morning.

Morrow Soil and Water Conservation District, Tyler Butler had the students create their own "Nature Journals" as they sat quietly and listened to the sounds around them.

Dennie West brought out his tools for "Flint Napping". Dennie explained the importance of arrowheads and what they were used for. He then demonstrated how they are made with a piece of granite.

Candace Herr with OSU Extension Morrow County talked about the importance of preserving and canning foods. She asked the campers why this would have been a requirement for food storage, and the students were eager to give their answers and thoughts.

Kim Forget, one of our volunteers at Headwaters, had the campers create their own "Stone Stories" as the Native Americans would have done.

Tuesday, June 9th is DAY 1 of WILD DAYS 2026!!

Please watch the weather forecast and dress your child appropriately, it could be a little wet!!

Also, please feel free to send your child with their own water tumbler with their name on it as it will be a little "warm" over the next 3 days.
