Katie Bell, U of I Extension Educator
Katie shared about the classes that she offers from introductory ag classes to a more intensive 6 week course on female entrepreneurship. Thank you, Katie, for updating us on local happenings and how the extension office supports students, adults, and business leaders in Richland County.

What ignites your child? Here is a chance to allow them to explore and create something new, helping them find their spark. Spark Before Dark will be held at the Wabash County Extension Office and led by University of Illinois Extension staff. Youth in second through eighth grade are eligible to participate and do not have to be 4-H members to attend.

September Activity: Straw Weaving Bracelet. Participants will make woven bracelets using straws while learning about sheep and wool! We will explore how wool is a natural fiber that comes from sheep, learn how sheep are ruminant animals, and discover how weaving is one of the oldest ways humans have turned wool and other natural fibers into useful items.

💥Experience Awards County Level (Optional to anyone) - September 4th, 2026 - to the Extension Office. These will be graded, and you will be awarded at the county level and state level if qualified.

💥Illinois 4-H Scholarships (for youth ages 15-19 as of 9/1/25) - November 1st, 2026

💥Sustaining the Future Award (Applications must be 17-19 years (as of 09/01/25). - November 1st, 2026

💥Illinois 4-H Club Award (Optional to any club) – September 11th, 2026 to the Extension Office.
