Accelerated Reading (AR) has begun for the 2021-22 school year! AR is a computerized reading comprehension program used at MACA in grades 2-5 that monitors independent reading. Students choose books at their appropriate reading levels, read them at their own pace, and earn points. This program keeps students engaged as they work toward meeting their quarterly AR goals. #macaacademics #maca2021

Hands-On Learning
Pictured here are 3rd graders in Mrs. Finch's class learning about animal adaptations and habitats. To simulate the protective barrier (blubber) that many arctic animals have to keep them warm in freezing temps, students had to wrap one hand in blubber (aka Crisco) and submerge both the “blubberized” hand and their regular hand in an ice bath! They were amazed at how warm the blubber kept their hand. They could keep that hand submerged for A LOT longer than the unprotected hand. #macaacademics #maca2021

MACA Middle School Retreat 2021

Middle School Retreat Highlights
On Friday, MACA's middle schoolers were able to experience one of the beloved MACA traditions by going on the annual MACA Middle School Retreat. A sweet time of fellowship with Biblical teaching and inspiration woven throughout.

Middle Schoolers enjoyed flag tag, ziplining, and water activities. During the spiritual emphasis times, students heard a message from Pastor Patrick Boyd, then they broke out into small groups to discuss Biblical topics that impact their everyday lives.

Thank you to Dr. Korn and all of MACA's middle school staff for the effort, planning and your investment in our students.

Mount Airy Christian Academy remembers 9-11.🇺🇸❤️💙🤍

Mr. Rust, MACA’s High School History teacher just completed his annual unit on 9-11 yesterday. In his words…

“Teaching the subject matter is always difficult and draining, emotionally and mentally.

This year in particular, the level of intensity in the response of students to the historical record was very high and powerful as well. Palpably so.

To consider the levels of sin, evil, and cruelty we saw and experienced that day is indeed necessary; however, my goal is to help students pivot from that reality to the truth that, on that day, we also saw and were inspired by innumerable acts of courage, heroism, selflessness, sacrifice, compassion, and love.

To remember that is incredibly significant.

I pray that such stories and lives will inspire us all to ‘live as free men, but to never use that freedom as an excuse to do evil.’

I always attempt to guard their hearts and minds through the process, but they must see, understand, and interpret the facts from a position of truth and proper perspective so that they might gain the necessary wisdom to value their freedom and liberty as the God given gift that it is and commit to the never ending task of preserving, protecting, and defending it for all.

May we as a people never forget that task and may we never neglect the promise we made together as a nation twenty years ago:

‘We Will Never Forget’ ❤️ September 11, 2001”

Here is a short highlight clip of Frank Taylor, Senior Pastor of Uniontown Bible Church, sharing a powerful and relevant message at our middle & high school Chapel yesterday. He shared how students can renew their minds daily and answered the questions-does God really care? Does God really love me? Each Thursday, MACA’s Chapel time is opened with our student Worship Team leading students in song, followed by a passionate and Gospel-filled message that is relevant to their every day lives. In addition to daily Bible study, through Chapel each week, MACA is beyond blessed to be able to share the Gospel message with our students in such a dynamic and inspiring way. #macaacademics #macarenew2021

Yesterday, MACA’s Elementary Chapel opened with some fun worship songs with motions led by MACA’s music teacher, Mrs Sorensen. Then Dr. Stanton, MACA’s Head of School, led a heart-warming devotional using Max Lucado’s “You Are Special” book. The book and the Chapel message reminded our students that we are precious to God just the way we are. That God loves us even though we make mistakes and have flaws. Chapel ended with Dr. Stanton leading the children in prayer. #macaacademics #maca2021 #macarenew
