St. James' Nursery School

St. James' Nursery School St. James’ Nursery School was established in 1974. For 50 years we have educated children in a fun and nurturing environment. Our MSDE license number is 151353.

Our preschool, for 2-year-old children through Pre-K 4's, holds a dual accreditation with the National Association for the Education of Young Children and the Maryland State Department of Education. We have earned the highest level (a 5) in Maryland EXCELS - which ranks early childhood programs in Maryland. Our school uses the Teaching Strategies: Creative Curriculum; one of the curricula selected

by the Maryland Department of Education for use in accredited programs. Our program’s objectives align with the Maryland Core Curriculum and the Maryland Model for School Readiness. We work hard at St. James’ Nursery School to continue to stay on the cutting-edge of early childhood practice and methods and to be the best preschool possible. Our program includes the following:
Language/Literacy and Reading readiness skills, Math, Science and Social Studies
Large and small motor skill practice
Outdoor play and monthly chapel times
Open-ended art which builds creative thinking skills
Snack time and Field Trips
Group activities – including circle time, movement, music and story times
Parent Involvement
