Today, our students enjoyed a fantastic day filled with field activities, physical education games, laughter, teamwork, and school spirit. From exciting competitions and relay races to cooling off with ice pops, there was no shortage of smiles across our campus. One of the highlights of the day was our opening ceremony, where staff members showed off their skills (and courage!) in a spirited hula hoop contest that had students and families cheering and laughing along.

A special thank you goes to Mr. Hinton and Ms. Jankeska for their outstanding work coordinating this event. The planning, organization, and attention to detail required to make a day like this successful are tremendous, and their dedication helped create lasting memories for our students. We are grateful for the countless hours they invested to ensure everything ran smoothly.

We would also like to thank our many volunteers & faculty who gave their time and energy throughout the day. Whether helping with activities, cheering on students, or assisting behind the scenes, your support played an important role in making the day such a success.

Finally, thank you to our families and community members who came out to support our students. Seeing so many parents, grandparents, family members, and friends lining the fields, encouraging participants, and celebrating alongside us made the day even more special. The strong partnership between our school and community is one of our greatest strengths, and days like today are a wonderful reminder of that.

Most importantly, thank you to our students for bringing such positive energy, sportsmanship, and enthusiasm to every activity. We hope the memories made today will last long after the school year ends.

What a great day to be a part of the MAES community

This week, our 4th and 5th grade students took the stage for their Spring Music Concerts, showcasing their hard work, dedication, and tremendous musical growth throughout the year. From the first notes to the final applause, our students demonstrated increased confidence, skill, and performance quality that was truly impressive.

It has been especially rewarding to see the growth in their musical talents since our Winter Concert. The progress made in just a few short months is a testament to their commitment and the outstanding instruction they receive.

A special thank you goes to Ms. Bradley and Ms. White for their countless hours of planning, organizing, rehearsing, and supporting our students. Their passion for music education and dedication to providing meaningful performance opportunities helped make these concerts a tremendous success.

We are so proud of all of our performers and grateful to the families and staff who came out to support them. Congratulations on a fantastic Spring Concert season!

Hands-on learning + beautiful weather = the perfect combination for science!

Today, our students took learning outdoors as they worked in partners to engineer protective barriers for houses during a landslide simulation. Students carefully planned and constructed their designs, observed and evaluated the work of their peers, and then put their creations to the test by simulating rainfall over their landscapes.

It was incredible to watch students collaborate, problem-solve, think critically, and apply real-world science concepts in such an engaging way. Thankfully, many of the houses survived the storm!

Last night, we were proud to celebrate several of our incredible teachers and instructional assistants who were recognized during the SECAC (Special Education Citizens Advisory Committee) Award Ceremony for their exemplary dedication and impact on students and families.

These recognitions are especially meaningful because they come directly from the voices of our MAES families. Thank you to the families who took the time to nominate these deserving staff members and share such thoughtful stories, kind words, and heartfelt appreciation. Your partnership and support mean so much.

Every day, our staff work tirelessly to ensure all students feel supported, valued, challenged, and loved. Their compassion, patience, advocacy, and commitment help create meaningful opportunities and lasting connections for our students and families alike.

We are incredibly proud of the work they do and grateful to have such outstanding educators and support staff serving our MAES community. Congratulations again to all of tonight’s honorees, this recognition is so well deserved!

What an incredible evening celebrating the completion of our Reading Fun in 2771 school event last Wednesday!

After the school day ended, our campus came alive with excitement as students and families gathered to wrap up our school-wide read of A Boy Called Bat. It was amazing to see the joy, curiosity, and connection this story sparked across our community.

From engaging discussions to creative, hands-on reading activities, students immersed themselves and brought the story to life in so many meaningful ways. Classrooms and spaces throughout the school were filled with energy as everyone participated in activities designed to celebrate reading and strengthen a love for books.

Thank you to our staff for organizing such a meaningful event and to our families and students for showing up and making the evening so special. It was a wonderful reminder of how stories can bring a community together, even after the school day ends!

Our students and staff have absolutely brought the energy this week for Coin Wars, and it has been incredible to watch! From the early morning rush of coins to the friendly competition in the hallways, the excitement has been felt all throughout the building. More importantly, this fundraiser has highlighted the generosity, teamwork, and school spirit that make our community so special.

As of today, we are getting closer to our goal, but we’re not there yet!

Tomorrow is the FINAL day of Coin Wars, and we’re making one last push to reach our goal of $15,000. Every coin (and dollar!) counts, and this is our chance to come together and finish strong. Whether it’s spare change from home or a last-minute donation, let’s see what we can accomplish as a team.

Let’s make tomorrow our biggest day yet, good luck to all grade levels, and thank you for your continued support!

Hello Everyone ! Please see the post below from the Mt. Airy / Parr's Ridge PTO to get information on how we can support our amazing teachers this year!

Teacher Appreciation Week is almost here, and our PTO is working to make it extra special for the amazing teachers and staff at Mount Airy & Parr’s Ridge Elementary Schools!

We’re celebrating over 150 teachers and staff who pour so much into our kids every single day, and we’d love your help showing them how appreciated they are. We’ve created an Amazon Wish List with items for staff treats, snacks, and small surprises throughout the week. If you’d like to contribute, any item—big or small—makes a huge difference.

Every donation goes directly toward making Teacher Appreciation Week (May 4-8) feel special for the people who make such an impact on our children and community. Thank you so much for supporting our schools and helping us love on our teachers!

A Musical Journey Around the World with Mr. Tony!

Today, our students had an incredible experience during the Instruments of the World assembly with Mr. Tony! Students were taken on an interactive journey exploring music from different cultures across the globe.

Mr. Tony’s energy, storytelling, and talent kept everyone engaged as students learned about unique instruments, how they’re played, and the cultures they come from. There were plenty of smiles, laughter, and even opportunities for students to participate and make music of their own!

Experiences like this bring learning to life and help our students grow their appreciation for the diverse world around them.

Thank you, Mr. Tony, for an unforgettable performance
