A Week Full of Books, School Spirit, and Cardinal Pride!

A HUGE thank you to Ms. Precht and Ms. Taylor for organizing and hosting another successful Book Fair! Our Cardinals had a wonderful time exploring a wide variety of books, discovering new interests, and building their love for reading. We appreciate all the hard work that went into making this such a special experience for our students!

And the fun didn’t stop there! Our Cardinals celebrated their incredible fundraising efforts for the Fun Run with a schoolwide Pajama Day, while Dr. Courtney and Ms. Howarth dressed up as Ketchup and Mustard! Nothing says school spirit quite like seeing your administrators dressed as condiments!

Thanks to the generosity and support of our amazing school community, we’ve raised an incredible $58,531: 78% of the way toward our $75,000 goal!

Thank you to our students, families, and staff for making MAES such a special place to learn, grow, and have fun!

It’s a great day to be a Cardinal!

What a great way to celebrate the start of another great school year at MAES with our annual Back to School Social!

A huge thank you to our amazing PTO for providing Rita’s Italian Ice for all of our students! Our teachers traded in their lesson plans for ice scoops and served up some delicious treats while students enjoyed time socializing, laughing, and catching up with friends.

We loved seeing so many smiles and having the chance to come together as a school community. Thank you to our PTO, staff, and families for helping make events like this so special!

Thank you to all of our MAES families who came out for Back-to-School Night last evening! It was wonderful to welcome you into the building, connect with our teachers and staff, and share more about the learning and opportunities ahead for our Cardinals this school year.

For families who were unable to attend, or anyone who would like to revisit the information, a School Messenger message was sent today with grade-level presentations, our administration presentation, and information from the Instrumental Music session.

These resources can also be found on the MAES website: https://mae.carrollk12.org/

Our website is a great place to stay connected throughout the year, with curriculum resources, school information, upcoming events, and PTO information all in one place.

Thank you for your continued partnership and for helping us start the year strong!

That’s a wrap on our first week of school!

What an exciting start to the 2026–2027 school year at MAES! We are so proud of the energy, excitement, and effort our students brought with them this week. It has been wonderful having our classrooms and hallways filled with smiling faces again!

One week down and an entire year of Meaningful Learning, a Safe Environment, and Future-Focused opportunities ahead. We can’t wait to see what our Cardinals accomplish this year!

What a way to close out another incredible school year at Mt. Airy Elementary!

Today was filled with smiles, laughter, celebration, and memories as we wrapped up the 2025-2026 school year together.

Staff greeted students during arrival in fun costumes and outfits, bringing extra excitement and energy to the final day of school.

We also had the privilege of celebrating two remarkable members of our MAES family as they begin their next chapter in retirement. Congratulations and thank you to Mr. Houston, and Ms. Koch for your years of dedication, service, and unwavering commitment to our students and school community. Your impact will be felt for years to come, and you will always be a part of the MAES family.

For our 5th graders, the day was especially meaningful. Families joined us for our annual “Then & Now” Slideshow, a cherished tradition that allowed students and families to reflect on just how much they have grown over the years. From baby pictures to future dreams, it was a heartwarming celebration of the memories, friendships, and accomplishments that have shaped their elementary school journey.

As the day came to a close, students were sent off through a sea of bubbles, cheers, and well wishes as we celebrated all they accomplished this year and wished them luck on their next adventures. Whether our students are returning to MAES in the fall or heading off to middle school, we know they will continue to do great things.

Thank you to our students, staff, families, volunteers, and community for making the 2025-2026 school year such a success. Together, we learned, grew, laughed, persevered, and created memories that will last a lifetime.

Have a safe, relaxing, and well-deserved summer break. We’ll see you in August!

What a sweet way to celebrate success!

Our 5th grade students recently set an ambitious goal for their end-of-year math benchmark assessment, and we are thrilled to share that they met that goal! Their hard work, perseverance, and commitment to learning paid off in a big way.

To celebrate this achievement, our 5th grade teachers made good on a promise and allowed students to “pie” them in the face! There were plenty of laughs, smiles, and whipped cream as students enjoyed the well-earned reward.

Congratulations to all of our 5th grade students for reaching their math goal. We are so proud of the effort, determination, and growth you have shown throughout the year. A special thank you to our incredible 5th grade team for motivating, supporting, and encouraging students every step of the way.

Way to go, 5th grade!

Today was a day to remember as we celebrated our amazing 5th graders during their Promotion Ceremony and end-of-year Celebration Picnic!

As our students prepare to take the next step into middle school, we could not be more proud of all they have accomplished during their time at Mt. Airy Elementary. Their hard work, resilience, growth, and leadership have left a lasting mark on our school community.

Following the ceremony, students enjoyed an afternoon filled with games, great food, music from our DJ, laughter, and memories with friends as they celebrated this important milestone together. It was the perfect way to recognize an incredible group of students and all they have achieved.

A heartfelt thank you goes out to the many volunteers, families, and staff members who helped make today such a special event. From planning and setup to serving food, supervising activities, and creating a fun and memorable experience for our students, your support made all the difference.

Thank you to our dedicated teachers and staff who have guided, encouraged, and supported these students throughout their elementary school journey. Your impact extends far beyond the classroom, and we are grateful for all you do.

To our 5th graders: Congratulations! We are so proud of you and cannot wait to see all the amazing things you accomplish in middle school and beyond. Once a Cardinal, always a Cardinal!

Today, our students enjoyed a fantastic day filled with field activities, physical education games, laughter, teamwork, and school spirit. From exciting competitions and relay races to cooling off with ice pops, there was no shortage of smiles across our campus. One of the highlights of the day was our opening ceremony, where staff members showed off their skills (and courage!) in a spirited hula hoop contest that had students and families cheering and laughing along.

A special thank you goes to Mr. Hinton and Ms. Jankeska for their outstanding work coordinating this event. The planning, organization, and attention to detail required to make a day like this successful are tremendous, and their dedication helped create lasting memories for our students. We are grateful for the countless hours they invested to ensure everything ran smoothly.

We would also like to thank our many volunteers & faculty who gave their time and energy throughout the day. Whether helping with activities, cheering on students, or assisting behind the scenes, your support played an important role in making the day such a success.

Finally, thank you to our families and community members who came out to support our students. Seeing so many parents, grandparents, family members, and friends lining the fields, encouraging participants, and celebrating alongside us made the day even more special. The strong partnership between our school and community is one of our greatest strengths, and days like today are a wonderful reminder of that.

Most importantly, thank you to our students for bringing such positive energy, sportsmanship, and enthusiasm to every activity. We hope the memories made today will last long after the school year ends.

What a great day to be a part of the MAES community
