📸 Selfie moment spotted!

Did you know that the very first “selfie” was taken in 1839 by Robert Cornelius in the city of Philadelphia?

As the College joins in commemorating America’s 250th anniversary and the “firsts” that mark our country’s history, we invited our community to "say cheese" and capture their own moment with us on social media!

✨ The PCOM South Georgia micro-market is getting a refresh! 🎉

This week, Variety Vending is putting the finishing touches on updates in the student dining area. Students and staff can look forward to more fresh, ready-made options to grab on the go!

We’re also moving the student food pantry to a more private area to better support our students.

And yes—the beloved coffee maker is staying... ☕️ But a new ice machine is on the way! 🧊

We’re excited to make the micro-market even better for our campus! Stay tuned for the reveal. 🤩

If you see a med student next week, ask if they'd like a hug. It’s finals time! 📝 💯

Student Doctor Selena Meza is an aspiring pathologist and recently received the Dr. Savita Arya Memorial Scholarship, established in memory of a founding PCOM faculty member who shared Selena’s passion for the field. 🦠🧫🔬

Dr. Arya’s husband, Dr. Shiv Dhiman, a current PCOM faculty member, is also one of Selena’s mentors. Though Selena and Dr. Arya never met, she knows they would have had much in common.

“[Dr. Arya] loved pathology, and I feel like I can relate to her because she is what I aspire to be one day,” said Selena.

We’re of Selena and all she’s accomplishing on her journey to becoming a pathologist herself!

Kanisha Hobgood (DO ’30) and Simoine Kenya (DO ’30) received their white coats together on Friday, August 7.

Though they never crossed paths during the pandemic, that experience deepened both women’s commitment to becoming physicians and expanding access to care in their communities.

Now, these two mothers are completing medical school side by side, united by a shared mission to serve others through medicine.
