🏆 CONGRATULATIONS TO OUR PARENTS OF THE QUARTER! 🏆

🎉 Mr. Brian & Mrs. Shemeka Knighton 🎉

Okapilco Elementary is proud to recognize Mr. and Mrs. Knighton as our Parents of the Quarter for the First Nine Weeks!

Proud parents of Brooklyn and Zoey Knighton, who represent the Houses of Isibindi 💚 and Amistad ❤️, the Knightons exemplify what it means to be involved, supportive, and committed to their children’s education.

Whether attending school events, participating in House Days, communicating with teachers, or supporting learning at home, the Knightons consistently go above and beyond to ensure their daughters’ success.

Our staff members praised their dedication, involvement, and willingness to partner with the school. Their commitment is a wonderful example of the difference parents make when home and school work together.

❤️💚 Thank you, Mr. and Mrs. Knighton, for being outstanding partners in education and valued members of our Okapilco family!

Our Pre-K students enjoyed a special visit from Superintendent Dan Chappuis and his therapy dog, Dave, for Georgia Pre-K Week! Mr. Chappuis arrived in all blue, proudly representing his house, Reveur, and students welcomed him with the Reveur house chant!

He read The Magician’s Hat, and afterward, students had the opportunity to pet Dave. Dave also had to give dad a kiss for being a great reader.💙😊

We always love welcoming our superintendent and Dave to Okapilco Elementary! Thank you, Mr. Chappuis, for sharing your time and the joy of reading with our youngest learners!

Okapilco Elementary celebrated Georgia Pre-K Week with a special visit from author Dr. Latonya Peterson! She read Chrissy Learns to Read, asked questions, and encouraged our students to participate with confidence. Some students who bravely raised their hands and answered correctly were gifted a copy of her book!

Dr. Peterson is a member of the House of Altruismo, and Altruismo staff came dressed and ready for the occasion! Our Altruismo house leads met her at the door, shared what their house represents, and welcomed her with house pride.

Thank you, Dr. Peterson, for inspiring our young readers and celebrating the joy of reading with our Pre-K students!

Happy Coaches Appreciation Day!

Today we’re celebrating two special members of our Okapilco team who help our students grow in very different ways!

Dr. Aricia Thrasher, our Academic Coach and proud Isibindi member, supports our teachers and students as they work toward success in the classroom.

Coach Brennan Maxwell, our PE teacher and proud Amistad member, keeps our students moving, learning, and working together.

We’re thankful for the encouragement, leadership, and energy they bring to Okapilco each day!
