As National Hispanic Heritage Month comes to a close, we’re looking back at how our schools celebrated it through learning, culture, and community! 🎨💃📚

From student-led art projects and traditional Hispanic dress days to deep dives into history, students and staff honored the rich histories, cultures, and contributions of Hispanic and Latino Americans.

A big thank you to WALB News 10 reporter Miles Staten for covering our story on diabetes crash boxes in schools! 💙🎗️

This initiative wouldn't be possible without our amazing community partner, Moultrie Federated Guild GFWC, which generously donates crash boxes each year to school nurses to help students manage their health. We are grateful for community partnerships like this that make a huge impact year after year!

Teachers, counselors, and other school employees were given the opportunity to learn about additional career options and the skills needed for those careers, which they can pass along to their students. The group visited Coca-Cola Bottling Company UNITED, Inc., Heatcraft Worldwide Refrigeration, and Superior Sauce Tifton, home of Terry Ho's Yum Yum Sauce, as part of Project Purpose's Educator Immersion Tours.

In addition to learning about the skills these employers are looking for in their future workforce, the group heard from two of South Georgia's successful entrepreneurs. From the Fields Meat & Processing and Paulk Vineyards Tifton Tasting Room shared their stories of the journey from idea to creation and the evolution of their products to where they are today.

Fun scientific fact they learned: Muscadines have many health benefits, so Paulk Vineyards has expanded its product line to include a line that uses the seeds, skins, and oils from the fruit for health supplements, so nothing goes to waste.

Thank you to each of these companies for opening their doors for our educators and helping them with the skills they need to prepare the future workforce. Thank you to Georgia Power, the Moultrie Chamber, and the Georgia Chamber of Commerce Tifton office for helping organize this day, and to the United Way of Colquitt County and Moultrie-Colquitt County Development Authority for their support of Project Purpose.

We are proud to celebrate Colquitt County High School junior Jax Fowler, who has been selected to serve on State School Superintendent Richard Woods’ 2026–2027 Student Advisory Council! 💛🖤

Jax was one of just 84 students selected from 1,427 applicants across Georgia to serve on this year’s council and represent his fellow students.

"We are proud of Jax Fowler for being selected to serve on State School Superintendent Richard Woods' 2026–2027 Student Advisory Council," shared Dr. Chris Merritt, CCHS Principal. "A model student and strong competitor in our FFA program, Jax is a fine example of what it means to be a Packer. I have no doubt he will represent CCHS well as he shares his perspective and helps shape future educational opportunities for our school and community."

As a member of the council, Jax will have the opportunity to share his experiences, discuss education-related issues, and provide student perspective on how state policies impact students across Georgia.

Moultrie-Colquitt County was named the Georgia Chamber of Commerce’s 2026 Rural Community of the Year during yesterday’s State of Rural Prosperity event in Tifton!

This recognition celebrates the leadership, collaboration, and commitment of people across our community who work together to tackle challenges and create opportunities.

For us, this work is personal. These are our neighbors, our families, and the businesses that make our community home. Every partnership and every step forward matters because of the people whose lives we have the opportunity to help improve.

This honor belongs to everyone who shows up, contributes, and believes in what Moultrie-Colquitt County can accomplish together. We are grateful to the Georgia Chamber for recognizing that work and proud of the community we represent.

We're proud to celebrate excellence across our district! 🌟

Funston Elementary School, Hamilton Elementary School, and Colquitt County High School have been recognized by the Georgia Department of Education for outstanding performance and growth in ELA and Mathematics.

Across the district, our students achieved Content Mastery gains in 12 of 13 Georgia Milestones assessments, surpassing regional performance in 11 areas and state performance in 9.

"We are incredibly proud of our schools for their outstanding achievements," stated Superintendent Dan Chappuis. "These accomplishments are a testament to the hard work and focus on learning demonstrated by our faculty and staff, as well as the commitment to academic success shown by our students and families. Being recognized among the top 5% of Title I Schools in the state is an outstanding accomplishment for our schools and the district."
