Meet our new principal, Mr. Melcha Satchel!

With more than 30 years dedicated to education and serving young people, he has made a lasting impact as a teacher, coach, counselor, and school administrator. He spent 15 years leading Colbert County High School as principal, where he was committed to supporting students, encouraging teachers, and strengthening the school community. Throughout his career, his passion has remained the same – helping young people grow, succeed, and become their best.

Athletics have also played a special role in his life. Mr. Satchel was a member of Courtland High School’s first State Championship football team and later returned as a coach, leading the school to its first Boys Basketball State Championship.

After 23 years of marriage and raising three children, Mr. Satchel returned home to Courtland. Today, one of his greatest joys is his family, including his three granddaughters and seven grandsons.

We are excited to welcome Mr. Satchel to the Hornet family and look forward to the leadership, experience, and passion he will bring to Hatton High School! Welcome to HHS, Mr. Satchel!
