Applications close tomorrow for the 2025 EARTH educator workshop, which will be held July 28 to August 1, 2025 in Newport, Oregon, co-hosted by MBARI and Oregon State University's Regional Class Research Vessel Program. https://www.mbari.org/workshop/earth-2025-newport-oregon/

Apply now to participate in this week-long professional development opportunity designed to facilitate the ability of educators to access data and use them in meaningful ways in their classroom. Workshop costs, including housing and food, are covered for all participants, and each participant will receive a travel allowance and stipend.

During this workshop, educators will work with active researchers to explore current science and research projects that demonstrate the use of data collected by ships, floats, gliders, buoys, and other marine technologies, as well as topics that relate to ocean and climate sciences. The educators are then given time to develop their own curricula using the knowledge from these explorations and their own experiences to create classroom lessons tied to the abilities of their own students as well as current education standards and pedagogy.

Hello,

Greetings from the Society for Science! Our whole team hopes you’re well and that you’ve had a great summer.

As we head into another academic year, high school seniors across the country are hard at work on their applications to the 2025 Regeneron Science Talent Search. Our program continues to identify future leaders in STEM among each year’s graduating class and to award $3.1 million to students and their schools on an annual basis.

We would love the help of former program partners like you in sharing this opportunity with any 12th grade students, educators or research mentors in your networks – I have shared an image and blurb below my signature that can be included in emails, posted on social media, or attached to message boards at your institution. Further ways to spread the word are available here.

Our continued thanks for your support of our work and our students. We look forward to sharing more opportunities from Regeneron STS and the Society for Science with you soon.

Sincerely,
Elaine
