Mrs. Blackwell's 5th graders had a blast during today's Genre Challenge! 📚 Students transformed a familiar story into a different genre, using their creativity while identifying the characteristics of each genre. This engaging activity helped students explain how different literary genres approach similar themes and topics in different ways (RL.5.9). Great job, readers!

Sixth Grade Star Reach absolutely loved having Ashli Blackwell, owner of The Coffeehouse, as our guest speaker! She explained cost vs profit margins for our business project. ☕️

Star Reach’s Highlights for the Week:

⭐️ Fourth Grade learned how to use compasses for their Survival Unit. They also had to read directions in order to find the “X” on our school’s campus.

⭐️Sixth Grade has been learning about team work and making decisions for our upcoming businesses. The paper chains were made out of ONE sheet of paper- impressive!

⭐️Third Grade has been learning about the importance of oceans.

⭐️Fifth Grade has started studying countries and even got to learn some Spanish on Friday. We love that our county is allowing our students this opportunity!

⭐️Last but certainly not least, Second Grade has been learning how to think outside of the box. They know some things they may not can do YET, but they will if they keep trying! They built traps to catch the “The Magical Yet” fairy. Can’t wait for them to see what happened when they come back on Monday! 🤗

Pre-K has been busy making new friends and learning all their names, but today they got to learn what makes each of them extra special! Our friends shared their “All About Me” bags, and we heard all about their favorite toys, families, hobbies, and all the things they love most. 🥰

Our 5th graders completed an activity to practice adding and subtracting decimals while gaining real world experience.
Students had to use a taco restaurant menu to answer word problems. They even got to snack on some delicious chips and salsa while they worked!

Things are starting to add up in 3rd grade!

Mrs. Hutchison’s 3rd grade students got to have some hands on learning during center time with rounding, place value, addition and subtraction.
