Quinn Gatens, the daughter of Lauren and Keegan Gatens, is an eighth grade student at our middle school. This year, Quinn was selected to fill a newly created Student Council position as GUARD [Grow, Unite, Accept, Respect, & Defend] Ambassador. As the appointed liaison between Student Council and our PBIS GUARD [Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports] program, Quinn is in charge of tracking the weekly “Sweet Students” chosen by our faculty. The Sweet Student of the Week award was created by Student Council to recognize students that consistently display positive behavior and routinely meet GUARD expectations. Quinn created a new certificate for this school year and she will prepare these awards for the chosen students to receive with a sweet treat on Fridays throughout the year. Quinn will also serve as the middle school representative on the PBIS GUARD team providing student feedback and suggestions through the year. Quinn is a kind, conscientious, and dedicated student leader.
In addition, Quinn’s time and talent have been invaluable assets to our school store at the middle school for what is now the 3rd year. She has taken initiative in the layout of the school store with her ideas making the store more organized and easier for students to find the items they want to purchase.
In addition, she has been a great help in scheduling other students to volunteer at the store. Quinn’s responsibility and reliability has been an excellent example for other students.
