Jesse Sumpter - Teacher & Writer Education. Classical. Resources. Grow as a person, a student, and an educator. I am passionate about Classical Christian Education.

I have been teaching for over eighteen years. I have taught in several brick and mortar schools as well as online schools. The courses that I teach are Latin and Integrated Humanities. I have also taught Greek 1 & 2, creative writing, and poetry. I currently teach at Logos Online School and this fall will be my fourth year. I have taught workshops at a number of conferences, including ACCS. I have taught courses at Logos School Teacher Training for five years. I have also led two online courses on starting a Classical Christian School. I have written a book on Abraham Kuyper’s Lectures on Calvinism. I have also written articles for Kuyperian Commentary, Imaginative Conservative, Fight Laugh Feast magazine, as well as white papers and news reports for other sources. I hold a Masters in Classical and Christian Studies from New Saint Andrews College as well as a Master in Fine Arts at Seattle Pacific University.

"Omnibus gave me so much perspective on THINKING. There really is nothing new under the sun, and Omni's exposure helped me see that. Now, during college, grad school, and international travel, I have lots of points of reference as I learn about new cultures and religions. Particularly, how Christianity fits into the picture and is clearly true and deep by comparison! It was insanely valuable exposure that has made everything else I've done deeper and more meaningful.”

One of my students asked if there was a Latin translation of the Wizard of Oz. Here's what Google found. I don't have this book but this would be great to own. We need more English classics translated into Latin. I would put Narnia at the top of that translation list.

Here's a great book everyone needs to read.

First, it is a fantasy adventure story. Who doesn’t love to read a knight and a dragon story? I recommend getting a copy of A Dangerous Journey and looking at the pictures. The art is fantastic.

Second, Bunyan has a great insight into the human person. This book is a key source for learning how to read people, characters, and your own personal story. Bunyan even labels the people for us with helpful names: Pliable, Worldly Wiseman, Help, Interpreter, Faithful. It is a handbook for studying human nature.

Third, this is an allegory. Our postmodern world is dying for lack of allegory. Allegory is only possible in a Christian worldview. In a naturalist worldview, there are no deeper meanings to the world: what you see is what you get. This book refreshes our vision of the world so we can rightly see the allegorical nature of the world around us.
