Kristin is from Lewiston, Idaho. She’s a proud UI alumna! She received two bachelor’s degrees in 2013, in psychology and Spanish.
She currently volunteers for the Colton-Uniontown Distinguished Young Women program as the Judge’s Chairperson, where she helps prepare junior-year high school girls for interviewing and teaches them public speaking skills. She’s been volunteering with the DYW program in Colton-Uniontown since 2012.
Kristin stays busy both on and off campus. She is the President and Co-Founder of HatchTracker, which is a client and inventory management app for gamebird producers (quail, pheasants, chukars, etc.). She and her business partner work with gamebird producers all over the country to improve their business management systems and help the industry continue to evolve in the modern age. Prior to law school, she worked in a movie theater, a hotel, a lumber mill, as a boat inspector, and as a personal assistant.
Currently, she is the President and Co-Founder of the OWLS (Older Wiser Law Students), Vice-President for the Agricultural Law Society, 2L Representative for the Idaho Veteran Law Association, Teaching Assistant for Professor Running's Legal Writing class, a Lexis+ Associate, and an Associate Editor for the Idaho Law Review.
Kristin’s “why” for coming to law school: She says, “I have two young daughters: Evangeline (age 4) and Mirabel (age 2). I was feeling stagnant in my previous career and wanted to stretch myself intellectually. I also wanted to show my girls that they are capable of doing anything to which they set their minds. I want to be able to provide for our family, while helping people in my community improve their lives. Every day is a chance for me to model to my girls just how powerful and kind they can be, and I feel so grateful to have the opportunity to do that through the pursuit of my own career goals.”
Outside of school, she loves spending time with her kids and spouse, whether that be for family movie night or camping and hiking in the mountains. She says, “My kids are some of the funniest people I know, and my husband always finds a way to make me laugh.” She also loves to travel and enjoys learning about new cultures. She really appreciates a well-formatted spreadsheet and will make a list about anything!
Fun fact(s): Kristin loves setting goals for herself that focus on experiencing the outdoors. For instance, she’s a member of the County Highpointers Association, which is a hiking club where the goal is to climb the highest point in every county of the US. She is also working on a goal of walking every mile of the Oregon Coastline with her dad, and says they visit the coast 1-2 times per year to get more mileage in. 🌤️🌊🪵🦀🍲
We are very lucky to have you, Kristin!!
