Instructors Chelsey Lewallen and Lori Wahl hosted several summer workshops as part of the Idaho 4H State Teen Association Conference and Summer Design Days. We had workshops for plant and flower smash printing, felting, laser cutting, and zero waste garment construction. Lots of learning!

ATD is excited to be a sponsor for Boise Fashion Week and support our Idaho companies, models, and fashion event producers. ATD students Juliana Howell and Chloe McDougal showed their Senior Collections on Student Night on June 6, 2024. https://www.boisefashionweek.com The event was held in downtown Boise in the Trailhead building.

Our 2024 Spring Senior Showcase was held in downtown Moscow at the Chamber of Commerce. The showcase was on display from April 30- May 10 and featured nine designers:

ATD instructor Chelsey Lewallen provided an amazing workshop for our university students with low vision or blindness.

We had the honor of teaching a workshop to nine low vision/blind students visiting Moscow for College Days through a fantastic program with the Idaho Commission for the Blind! Students get to experience campus life and explore programs they may be interested in. Hands on activities are a wonderful way to stimulate the mind and enjoy creative, tactile experiences. Thanks so much to the students and staff who visited, we hope you had a great experience felting/ weaving/ knitting and learning how fabric is made! A couple of weekends ago the Apparel, Textiles and Design program led by students , , and Dr. Sonya Meyer held a fashion show for the parents Weekend Wine and Cheese Event. Models showcased the Graue Collection by designer Marjorie Maclean Douglas graciously donated to the Leila Old Historic Collection by her grandchildren Marjorie and Bill. Marjorie and her daughter Helen were UI alumnae graduation in 1939 and 1956.

Moving Mountains for Body Inclusivity The Gorgeous Agency CEO Kara Richardson Whitely, author of "Gorge: My Journey Up Kilimanjaro at 300 Pounds," will be the 2024 Margaret Ritchie Distinguished Speaker.

Kaylee Flodin’s Wistman Woods coat is on display in the International Textile and Apparel Association conference in Baltimore, MD. Mentor Lori Wahl is answering questions.

ATD students in Portfolio Development travelled to Portland, OR, this month to present their projects to Nike Swim! Student teams gave thorough presentations that were well received. We also we able to spend time in the sample room, discussing projects with Nike Swim employees, and enjoying lunch together.

Celebrate National Scarf Day with a wool scarf - designed by students in FCS! https://bit.ly/465z4F2

The stripe pattern represents the syllables in the cheer section of the U of I Fight Song. Making the scarf even more Idaho-centric is the breed of sheep used. The wool came from Polypay/Targhee crosses — two breeds developed at the U.S. Sheep Experiment Station in Dubois and raised by Dave Casebolt at U of I. This 100% wool scarf is ultra soft, cozy warm, and made with love.

Our ATD Students created a line of pet products using the Vandal Tartan design. They are now available in the Vandalstore! We will be sharing Vandalstore posts on the products.

Congratulations to ATD student Chloe McDougal of Boise, Idaho, who received a $1000 award from the Phi Kappa Phi honorary society to study abroad in Florence, Italy, this summer!

The selection process for a study abroad grant is based on the applicant’s academic achievement, campus and community service, relation of travel to academic preparation and career goals, a personal statement, letters of recommendation, and acceptance into a study abroad program.

The Senior Showcase opens at 5pm at NRS tonight! Come join us and celebrate our students’ success!
