Under the direction of Dr. David Erb, the CSMI Choir will present "Heavenly Home," an evening of choral and instrumental music reflecting on the Christian hope of heaven. The program features a wide variety of sacred music, including this exciting gospel selection with special guest soloist Krista Overby. Greetings!

I wanted to let you know that I am putting on Amahl and the Night Visitors on January 9-10. Details are below.

It has a fantastic cast: Kayla Erb is the mother, Isabelle Landis is Amahl, Judah Rauch is the Page, and the Three Kings are all professionals (Cody Laun who taught at NSA, Stefan Gordon who teaches at UI, and Jadrian Tarver who teaches at Gonzaga).
It should be a great show. I hope you can come! I think you may find it to be one of the most delightful shows you have ever seen.

AMAHL AND THE NIGHT VISITORS

To close the Christmas season, Collegium Musicum Moscow presents Amahl and the Night Visitors. January 9 & 10, 7:30pm, at Trinity Reformed Church in Moscow, ID.
Amahl and the Night Visitors was the first opera written for television, premiering on Christmas Eve 1951 as the first episode of NBC’s Hallmark Hall of Fame. Various productions were broadcast every year thereafter through 1965.

The opera is in English and approximately 50 minutes long. It is in the tradition of the medieval miracle play and centers on the Three Kings on their journey to find the Christ child. Along the way, they stop for shelter at the home of a poor widow and her crippled son, Amahl. The beautiful music and the delightful story are all presented as if through the eyes of Amahl; that is to say, through the eyes of a child. This gives the story a fresh and fantastical quality.
