Check out this video from the IFBF Fusion Conference in Boise! This year we had 10 members attending this conference. Every year we look forward to our members attending these conferences!
University of Idaho Collegiate YF&R
Agriculture This organization's main goal is to promote agricultural awareness for everyone.
The chapter was formed to give students the opportunity to become involved in Farm Bureau while learning about agricultural issues and policies as well as developing future leaders for the agricultural industry.

This year, our Collegiate YF&R chapter sent seven students from CALS, CBE, and CNR to the 2023 American Farm Bureau Federation Fusion Conference held in Jacksonville, Florida.
The conference brought over 1,000 volunteer leaders from three American Farm Bureau program areas – Promotion & Education, Women’s Leadership, and Young Farmers & Ranchers – to learn, share, and grow together to build a stronger Farm Bureau.
Our members attended breakout sessions to learn about the 2023 farm economic outlook, membership growth and retention, balancing farm finances, communicating with the public on biotech, GMOs and gene editing, understanding marketing and risk management, the 2023 Farm Bill, and more!
From watching the National Collegiate Discussion Meet, listening to impactful keynote speakers including President Zippy Duvall of the American Farm Bureau Federation, and networking with other collegiates and industry leaders from across the country, our members were inspired to take what they learned back to our club, Farm Bureau, and their daily life and future careers.
The Fusion Conference happens every two years, and this year the Collegiate Young Farmers & Ranchers club had record participation! Our hope is to continue this momentum within our chapter for years to come!

CYF&R Officer Spotlight! 🌟
Erin Daniels - 2022 Vice President
She is a junior studying rangeland management, as well as in the University of Idaho Agricultural Commodity Risk Management Program.
Why are you passionate about the ag industry?
- I am passionate about the ag industry because it’s such an honest way to live and learn. I didn’t grow up with an agricultural background, but I knew coming to UIdaho that is was a career I would like to pursue. I found a real passion in wanting to combine several different areas within agriculture into a career and way of life.
What made you want to join CYF&R?
- A lot of my friends were in CYF&R, and I didn’t know exactly what they had to offer until I was apart of it. I continue to be apart of it because of the connections I’ve made in different areas of the agricultural industry.
What has been your favorite part about being and officer?
- My favorite part about being an officer is getting to lead a growing club with a wonderful officer team and advisors. I have grown a lot more with the encouragement of our team.
What are you looking forward to this year in CYF&R?
- Definitely going to Fusion Conference this March in Florida! I’m excited to meet other agricultural leaders from across the country and to take home some inspiration to bring to the club!

CYF&R Officer Spotlight! 🌟
Katy Doumit - 2022 President
She is a senior studying agricultural economics and finance
Why are you passionate about the ag industry?
-I am passionate about the ag industry because it has such a great affect on our everyday lives that many people don’t realize. I have always had ties to the ag industry through raising cattle, FFA and 4-H experiences, and commercial fishing, and have now found my passion and future career path in agricultural risk management!
What made you want to join CYF&R?
-I initially wanted to joint CYF&R because it seemed to be a diverse club that had a lot of opportunities to offer its members such as community service, industry tours and networking, and discussion meets. When I was a freshman, I wasn’t sure exactly what I wanted to major in or do for a career and this club helped me find my place!
What has been your favorite part about being an officer?
-My favorite part about being an officer is getting to table at events and meet all of the amazing students we have in our college and try to recruit them to CYF&R. I love getting to see my peers come full circle and take advantage of all of the many opportunities we offer which then often lead to piquing their interest in sectors of the industry and new future career opportunities!
What are you looking forward to this year in CYF&R?
-This year in CYF&R, I’m looking forward to our industry tours, attending State and national conferences, and potentially partnering with WSU CYF&R for events and discussion meets!
