We loved providing a keynote at for students on online safety! One area where kids need guidance from their parents?

Catfishing.

Parents can have an outsized impact on their child’s safety by explaining early and often that people can pretend to be someone else online - and to proceed with a healthy skepticism when meeting new people online. No tech expertise needed! Just pointing it out will help our littles build and strengthen their digital instincts.

When it comes to establishing boundaries around technology with our kids, parents can make it easier on themselves by always incorporating an online and offline example together.

This makes it easier for kids to understand that boundaries matter no matter where we are, and that includes our devices. Plus, it lets kids know that we are the authority and safe harbor when it comes to technology (something that’s easy to forget in the digital age!).
