The GED Science test has chemistry! Do you know how to tell if a chemical equation is balanced? It's easy! List out all the elements on each side of the equation and write down how many there are of each. If the amounts are the same, it's balanced! For free classes to help with the GED, call (208)792-2544.
How about some math? Did the FOIL method confuse you in algebra? Take (x+1)(x+4) and you multiply the things that are first, on the outside, on the inside, and finally the ones that are last. Why? How about re-imagining it visually? If you knew what x was, you would just have two numbers multiplied. A practical use for that? Area! Now, imagine it as a 4-room house. x is the length and width of one room you forgot to measure. You set it up and multiply to find the area of each room, and the x holds the place until someone tells you what the missing measurement is. You get the area of each room, and add anything together that is similar.
Today is Labor Day! The Center is CLOSED! Have a great day!

Let's try some math! Bob, Joe and Steve eat at a restaurant. Their bill is $37 in total. Bob's lunch was twice the cost of Joe's. Steve's was $3 less than Bob's. How much was Joe's lunch?
Need help? With this kind of question, it helps to put the situation in words, then translate to an equation. Bob+Steve+Joe= 37.
Since Bob=2xJoe, we can change it to 2xJoe+Steve+Joe= 37.
Steve is Bob-3, and Bob is 2xJoe, so Bob= 2xJoe-3. We have 2xJoe+2xJoe-3+Joe= 37 or, more simply, 2J+2J-3+J= 37. We can combine the J's, so 5J-3=37. Add 3 to both sides, 5J=40. Divide both sides by 5, J=8. So Joe's lunch was $8.

Let's try a science experiment! You'll need: baking soda, tape, an empty water bottle, a balloon, and vinegar. A funnel would also be helpful.
Use the funnel to pour several tablespoons of baking soda into your balloon. Put about an inch of vinegar into the empty bottle. With the baking soda hanging down, stretch the open end of the balloon over the neck of the bottle and tape it in place. Then, upend the balloon. What happens?
Chemistry in action! The baking soda and vinegar have a chemical reaction, changing the chemical composition. One of the products created is a gas.
