Have you ever wondered how many Good Job coupons our box could actually hold? Ms. Wheeler’s 5th grade math students put their volume skills to find out during a walk through the school, measuring everyday objects and making real world connections along the way! 📦📐🟰

Their findings included the Good Job Coupon Box at approximately 1,000 cubic inches (that's room for a lot of coupons!), the small graphic novel bookshelf in the library at 20,868 cubic inches, the head of the Spirit Hammer at 432 cubic inches, and the fire extinguisher box at 1,860 cubic inches!

We love seeing our students take math beyond the classroom and discover just how much it’s part of the world around them!

We have been SO blessed this first month of school by our community! Here a few special “thank yous” we’d like to share!

Our wonderful PTA served the teachers a great Chick-Fil-A breakfast to get their school year started right! Food is a good gift, any day, any time!

Mr. Brian Priest, with Cass Burch Automotive, dropped off awesome bags full of supplies, snacks, and coupons! Our teachers were very grateful!

Also, we would like to send a special shoutout to two local churches who dropped off backpacks, Lysol wipes, and school supplies! A huge NBES thank you goes to Providence Community Church, led by Pastor Rodney Tenery, and Morven Baptist Church, led by Pastor Jim Pitt.

Thank you doesn’t begins to cover it. The support and love each of you have shown us makes our jobs more joyful. Thank you for helping “good things grow here!” 🌻

Are you ready to see what we have been learning this week?! We hit the ground running on day one, and we haven’t slowed down yet! This is just a peek at what we accomplished these first three days!

Our kinders have had a blast with Calendar time, and our first graders have had a great start to their reading and writing time! Today we found second grade working on identifying the problem and solution, and our third graders were working on map skills, finding the lesson of stories and math problems with graphs. Fourth grade was busy working on team building (yes, they saved Fred!), personal narratives, the solar system, and battleship placement value. And last but not least, fifth grade kicked off the year by working on cursive writing, comprehension, setting up math folders for their volume unit and classification in Science!

Of course, exploratory, lunch, and recess have a been a huge hit, too! We have had an amazing first week, and we just know it’s going to be the best year ever! Good things grow here! 🌻

The first day of school is here, but we’re still laughing about the results of our NBES teacher team-building scavenger hunt—the Mighty Goose Chase!🪿

Along the way, we learned more about our community, practiced working together, and welcomed our new teachers to the flock. From building goose nests and snapping photos with district staff members to tracking down people outside of NBES wearing spirit gear, our teams took every challenge to the next level.

Congratulations to Team Wheeler for taking home the Golden Goose! More importantly, every team had a great time, built stronger connections, and kicked off the year with the best staff around.🏆

We are excited, energized, and ready for an awesome school year at NBES. Good things grow here!🌻

Welcome back teachers! We had a great first day of preplanning. We started our day with a delicious breakfast, and we went on to district convocation.

We had a great time cheering on the other schools, and we were excited to take home the district spirit stick! Way to go NBES!! 🎉🎉

They will return Tuesday to kick-off preplanning, and they can’t wait to put the finishing touches on their classrooms, and get ready to welcome back all of our amazing students and families!
