Week 2 of academics at MJHS has brought a lot of critical thinking and movement to the classroom! Here’s a small window into the world of what’s happening with our Junior Potters:

History - vote with your feet about media literacy topics as students prepare for their first inquiry unit

Social Studies - students are engaging in their first Socratic smackdown, a scaffolded debate

Math - review review review with task cards…students can check their own work for immediate feedback

Health - walking through a question trail to recall important first aid skills

ELA - using stations as students become familiar with plagiarism and its detriments

Science - students are developing the routine they will use to write about science topics all year long - Claim, Evidence, and Reasoning

Short-Term Peace Can Create Long-Term Chaos

Care U is back for Season 5!

In this episode, we explore how trying to keep the peace in the moment can sometimes prevent children from building essential life skills. From rescuing children from discomfort to over-explaining during meltdowns, we reflect on how caregivers can create age-appropriate opportunities to develop patience, resilience, and healthy coping strategies. As always, the conversation invites caregivers to reflect on our practices and focus on the long game.

We hope you enjoy the episode.
