OSHA 10 TRAINING 🦺

Safety is the foundation of every Local 1 jobsite, which is why the first week of school for our new building trades apprentices includes OSHA 10 training! This course is the building block for a safety-focused mindset.

It's also a requirement for journeypersons on many jobsites, and many general contractors require an OSHA 10 card issued within the last five years.

OSHA 30: SUMMER TRAINING 🦺

OSHA 30 is required for all forepersons in the northern part of Local 1's jurisdiction and for those working on certain jobs in the south.

This comprehensive course covers the essential topics supervisors need to help keep jobsites safe and ensure everyone makes it home safely at the end of the day. Attendance is mandatory for completion.

Earlier this month, we had a great group of students complete our fire and smoke damper technician training! 👏🔥

This is an important (and challenging!) class for sheet metal workers. The skills they gain help protect the general public from fires in the buildings where they live and work — and help protect the first responders who put their lives on the line during emergencies.

Our class included a mix of journeymen and apprentices who put in the hard work and successfully earned their certification. Congratulations to everyone who took this critical training!

Our apprentices have been busy sharpening their skills in GMAW (mig) welding and brazing. Last month, several students completed hands-on training and will earn American Welding Society certifications based on their work. These apprentices are well on their way to becoming top-tier sheet metal workers — keep it up! 💪
