As the growth of generative AI increases demand for advanced computer hardware, school districts are finding cost-effective ways to make the most of the technology they already own.

This summer, DCIU Information and Technology technicians are repairing, cleaning and maintaining approximately 30,000 computers for local school districts. The work helps extend the life of existing devices, reduce replacement costs and ensure dependable technology is ready for students and educators for the 2026–2027 school year.

The initiative is also creating meaningful workforce opportunities. Nine recent Delaware County Technical High Schools graduates are working alongside experienced DCIU technicians as technology interns, gaining hands-on experience in diagnostics, repair, maintenance and IT operations.

Through this partnership, DCIU is supporting schools today while helping prepare the next generation of technology professionals for tomorrow.

By providing high-quality training and practical classroom strategies, we are helping to build a strong pool of substitute educators who can step in when schools need them most.

The Guest Teacher Program offers a valuable opportunity for community members, career changers, retirees, and recent graduates to make a meaningful impact in local schools while helping districts address an ongoing workforce need.

DCIU successfully wrapped up its 2026 Summer Literacy Camp, a two-week program designed to help students who ended the school year below grade level strengthen their reading skills and move toward readiness for the fall.

Led by skilled reading interventionists, campers received targeted instruction in decoding, transcription and fluency while also building receptive and expressive language skills through interactive games, engaging activities and purposeful practice. With structured support and built-in opportunities for movement and fun, the camp helped students maintain momentum, build confidence and reduce the risk of the traditional “summer slide.”

By providing focused literacy support during the summer months, DCIU is helping students return to school better prepared to learn, grow and succeed. 📚
