Morton High School Automotive students had a great day attending the 50th Annual Power Show and Automotive Open House at Illinois Central College!

Students had the opportunity to participate in demonstrations featuring new automotive industry technology, speak with local employers about career opportunities, compete in automotive competitions, and learn more about what the Automotive Technology program at ICC has to offer.

A big congratulations to MHS senior Drake S, who took 1st place in both the Spark Plug Race and Component ID competitions! His two first-place finishes earned him a Craftsman tool set and a Craftsman impact set!

To top off an already great day, Morton High School won a 3-piece Matco Electronic Torque Wrench Set that will be put to good use in our automotive classes.

It was a great opportunity for our students to get hands-on experience, connect with industry professionals, and see where a career in the automotive industry can take them. A big thank you to ICC and it's sponsors for hosting such a great event every year! Congratulations to Drake and all of our students who participated!

NLSC 2026 recap

A week full of new experiences, learning, and growth. We made new friends, built connections, and explored opportunities through TECHSPO and LEARN sessions.

Community Service team, American Spirit team (6th in the nation), Pin Design (5th in the nation), and Teamworks.

Grateful to represent Morton with an Illinois delegate and state officer leadership experience at Leverage.

The Morton High School SkillsUSA Chapter is in Atlanta for the SkillsUSA National Leadership & Skills Conference! After the opening session last night, we’re ready to compete. We are proud to represent Morton High School with four competitions while building leadership, sharpening our skills, and making unforgettable memories.

Big things are happening for these outstanding students!

Today we celebrated a major milestone as they officially signed on as college interns with Caterpillar. Through their hard work in our Work-Based Learning program and the Caterpillar E4L program, they’ve turned classroom skills into real-world opportunities.

These three will begin their internships right after graduating high school; an incredible step toward their future careers in industry.

We’re proud of their dedication, growth, and commitment to excellence. This is exactly what career readiness looks like!

Big surprise in the shop today! 🔥

Representatives from Midwest Technical Institute stopped by our Dual Credit MIG Welding class to recognize Kian G with a $2,000 scholarship.

We’re proud to see hard work, skill development, and dedication pay off in a big way. Opportunities like this are exactly what career and technical education is all about: real pathways to a strong future.
