🧪 Meet Ms. Kyleigh and Professor Newton! 🦥

Today I got to step into a new role as our school’s STEM Enrichment Teacher, and I had SO much fun!

Of course, every STEM teacher needs the proper equipment… so I showed up in my pink lab coat and my safety glasses (because we were building today), brought along my assistant Newton the sloth, and made sure we all had our MAD Scientist ID badges to gain access to our top-secret STEM lab! 🔬🧪

Today our little scientists became engineers! 👷‍♀️👷 We experimented, built, problem-solved, and had a blast creating towers and castles out of cups. Watching them test their ideas, make changes, and try again was the BEST part!

I have a feeling Newton and I are going to have a lot of fun in STEM this year! 🦥🔬✨

A little first-day-eve tour of Spark Academy. ✨

Tomorrow, these classrooms will be filled with little voices, big imaginations, messy hands, new friendships, and so much learning through play.

And tonight, I’m feeling especially grateful.

This building started as an old gas station.

But I saw something different.

I saw classrooms designed around how young children actually learn. I saw beautiful, intentional spaces where play, movement, creativity, relationships, and curiosity could be at the center of the day. I saw a place where current best practices in early childhood education could come to life.

I saw Spark Academy before Spark Academy existed. 💛

And somehow, that big, slightly-crazy dream became this.

There is still so much I want to build, create, and grow here—but every once in a while, it’s important to look around and remember where you started.

Tomorrow begins another school year inside this dream.

Tomorrow is the FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL at Spark Academy, and our Developmental Playroom is ready for a brand-new year of learning through PLAY! 🎉

September is all about ALL ABOUT ME—learning about ourselves, our interests, our community, and all the things we might want to be when we grow up. 💛

So…we transformed our playroom into a whole little world of possibilities! 🤩

Eligible families can use CCAP benefits toward tuition—giving more children access to the full Spark Academy experience: purposeful, play-based learning, small class sizes, a 5:1 student-to-teacher ratio, daily enrichment, and our signature Developmental Playroom.

Is your child ready for more… but their birthday just missed the kindergarten cutoff?

A birthday on the calendar doesn’t always tell the whole story about a child’s readiness.

Some children with September, October, or November birthdays are already showing strong academic skills, social confidence, independence, and a readiness for greater challenge — but traditional school-age cutoffs can leave families wondering what to do next.

At Spark Academy, you have another option.

✨ Kindergarten Prep is available for children who turn 5 by November 30.
✨ Kindergarten is available for children who turn 5 by September 30.

Your child will learn in a small, play-based environment where instruction can be matched to what they are actually ready for — academically, socially, and developmentally.

With a 5:1 student-to-teacher ratio, purposeful academic play, our 30-minute Developmental Playroom, and daily enrichment in Spanish, STEM, Art, Communication, and Music & Movement, children have room to be challenged without losing the play, movement, and connection they still need at five.

And because Spark Academy is founded and led by Dr. Michelle Peterson, a doctoral researcher in early childhood education, readiness isn't viewed as simply a birthday or a checklist. We look at the whole child.
