Discovery Child Development Center

A special thank you to the Morrisville Fire Department for visiting our center today and bringing your fire truck for our students to explore. All 7 of our classes loved seeing the truck up close, learning about fire safety, and having the chance to climb inside. It was such a fun and meaningful way for our children to learn about community helpers and the important work firefighters do to keep us safe. We are so grateful for your time, kindness, and service to our community.

We’ve had such a great time learning about each other’s holiday traditions this month and celebrating together. Wishing all of our families a very happy holiday! 🎄

Thanksgiving may be over, but our gratitude isn’t. 🍁💛

Over the past few weeks, our students and teachers have been adding “thankful” leaves to our Gratitude Tree and helping collect food for the Food Bank of Central & Eastern North Carolina.

We’re so thankful for our Discovery community and the way our children, families, and staff show kindness to others.

📦 Our food drive runs through December 10, so there’s still time to send in donations if you’d like to participate!

We hope all who celebrate had a wonderful Diwali filled with joy, light, and time with loved ones! Wishing everyone continued brightness and happiness in the days ahead.

Progress takes time, in running, in learning, and in life.

When I was recovering from a series of injuries earlier this year, I was reminded how much growth depends on both support and challenge. Sometimes we need outside intervention, a coach, a PT, or the encouragement of family and friends to help us move forward. And sometimes we have to push ourselves in new ways. For me, that meant facing the parts of training I used to avoid, recognizing where my strengths were, and building the skills I was lacking. It’s the same for kids: progress often happens when they’re supported and gently stretched beyond their comfort zone. Just like in running, real progress takes time, it can’t be rushed. 💙🏃🏻‍♂️📚

Some surprises are extra special 💙 Ms. Melissa, a beloved longtime former teacher, dropped by for a visit with her daughter. Once you’re part of the Discovery family, you’re always part of it!

Yesterday we opened our doors for the first day of preschool, and our halls were filled with laughter, excitement, and the start of new friendships. Thank you to our families for sharing this special day with us and here’s to a fantastic year together! We can’t wait to meet more of our students today. 💜
