As the kids in our Blended Martial Arts program continue their study of the traditional Wheel Throw takedown, they just keep getting smoother and smoother. Super proud of these hard chargers!

Its our annual SNOW CONE WEEK!! After every class this week students can enjoy a delicious snow cone - choose from a dozen different flavors or mix and match. I'm pretty pumped up about this years 4TH OF JULY celebration and our nations 250th anniversary! I was only 5 years old for the Bicentennial and barely remember it, so this one will be extra special. We have designed a couple of limited edition t-shirts (the middle one will be available yearly, the other two just this month) for students to wear to rep both the school and the momentous occasion. $17.99 on regular shirts and $19.99 on performance shirts. One of the biggest challenges younger students have with kicking is BALANCE, so we like to do a lot of different drills to help them develop their core and stabilizer muscles. This one looks funky, but hey - it works! These 5 year olds in our Team Tiger program are holding boxing targets over their heads while balancing and trying to blast out some fast and strong front kicks. Like I said, it looks a little crazy, but they did a great job!

Its FRIDAY! Our Kids BJJ and Kids BJJ Prep students will be hitting the mats in their NO-GI uniform, ready to apply this weeks lessons to a faster, less grippy environment. Martial Arts students will have a chance to make-up their BLUE stripe, as well as get in more reps of their combo. And of course, it wouldn't be Friday without BATTLEBALL! Big congrats to Aiden for being inducted into our Submission Legion at Level II - Legionnaire! It takes a minimum of 5 submission victories in competition to move up to Level II. Awesome job!

Congrats also to Ms. Maci on earning her second Stripe on her Grey Belt.

The rest of the photos in this post are of our Kids BJJ Prep class (ages 5-7) working on various "Gari" or "reaping" takedowns. Shoot - we just teach 'em to get their opponent off balance and "hook" the legs to get them to the ground. These little guys and girls get better every day.

The last photos are of the same kids working on their second submission in the chain from the scarf hold position - the Ezekial Choke. Super proud of these guys for their focus, attention to detail and respect for their partners!

STRIPE NIGHT IS HERE! All Martial Arts students will be testing for their BLUE stripe (first required Stripe for the August Graduation cycle) tonight or tomorrow. Don't miss it!
