June is for Major Championships and Celebrating One of Our Major Athletic Milestones.

Two weeks ago, the 81st Women’s U.S. Open Championship was celebrated at the infamous Riviera Country Club in Pacific Palisades, California. And today marks the start of the 126th Men’s U.S. Open Championship, which will take place at Shinnecock Hills Golf Club in Southampton, New York. June is synonymous with championship golf, and it lends the Academy an opportunity to celebrate our inspiring Golf Team’s first completed season!

Under the guidance and intellect of Coach Kevin Casey, our Panthers excelled in their growth and skill acquisition throughout their first year, as displayed in every drive onto the fairway and every carefully measured putt.

Congratulations to our Golf Team, as well as to Coach Kevin Casey, for an incredibly accomplished first season.

And for those who are interested in learning more about the game of golf, especially its history here in New Jersey, check out Coach Kevin Casey’s published book, “Remarkable Stories of New Jersey Golf: The Unique History of Golf in the Garden State.” (It makes a great Father’s Day gift!)💙💛🐾🏌️‍♀️⛳️

165 Years of Memories. One More Chapter Added.

The latest edition of the Academy of Saint Elizabeth’s Yearbook, “The Beth,” celebrates our historic legacy as the oldest all-girls Catholic high school in the State of New Jersey.

The cover of the yearbook is a testament to our past, with the vision of a future Xavier Hall gently etched alongside the Motherhouse as a train passes by the iconic Convent Station.

The Academy would like to congratulate Giovanna Desimone ‘26 as the Lead Creative Director on this beautiful edition of “The Beth;” Student Contributors Ava Claps ‘26, Madison Kehoe ‘29, Elena Merkel ‘29, Kelsey Puma ‘27, and Grace Walsh ‘27; and Technology Advisor Zoey Birjah-Rooplal ‘27. As Pope Leo XIV concluded his Apostolic Journey to Spain last week, the Academy of Saint Elizabeth looks back on this year’s Trip Abroad Program, which brought our SEAsters to the very same land from which the Pope just left!

Students traveled across the Iberian Peninsula between Spain and Portugal, from Cordoba to Madrid to Lisbon, encountering the same cultural beauty and vibrancy which Pope Leo XIV just encountered. And as his Apostolic Journey’s motto reflected, “life up your eyes,” our SEAsters did just that as they gazed upon the history and faith of such a mesmerizing part of the world.💛💙🐾🇪🇸🇵🇹🛫🌎🌍

“Leadership is never the work of one person. It is a sacred trust passed from one generation to the next.”

With those words, Dr. Azar, the 13th principal in the history of the Academy of Saint Elizabeth, formally recognized the courageous work of her predecessor and first lay principal of the Academy, Mrs. Lynn Burek.
Mrs. Burek’s leadership marked a defining chapter in our school’s history. Our entire Academy community thanks her for her dedication and commitment to enhancing our school’s mission and educational excellence.

Thank you, Mrs. Burek!💛💙🐾🏆

“A great teacher has little external history to record. Their lives go over into other lives. These women and men are pillars in the intimate structure of our schools. They are more essential than its stones or beams, and they will continue to be a kindling force and a revealing power in our lives.”
- The Emperor’s Club (2002)

To our distinguished Academy of Saint Elizabeth faculty, thank you for making this school year one to be remembered. You truly are the cross beams that support the mission of our beloved school community, keeping “minds in wisdom, hearts in service, and lives in faith.”

You are the pillars that sustain our 165-year long legacy and will continue to do so into the future.

For now, thank you for everything you have done for our SEAsters during the 2025-2026 school year. Enjoy some well-deserved relaxation and rest.💛💙🐾🙏🍎📚☀️
