Summer break is just about over, and school is starting again here in sunny Colorado, USA. I don’t know about you, but it seems this summer has flown by; we have been blessed to have had so many fun adventures this year and made so many beautiful memories.

Our FREEBIE this week are FOUR customizable BACK-TO-SCHOOL posters and memory sheets. One is full color and can be customized with chalk pens and used in back to school photos. From spotting moose, caribou, Dall sheep, and even a lynx, our ride on the park bus deep into the wilderness, Denali National Park is an unforgettable adventure for kids. There are so many opportunities to learn about Alaska’s incredible wildlife, ecosystems, and history while creating memories that will last a lifetime.

We were especially fortunate to experience something truly extraordinary—a 100% clear view of Denali! At 20,310 feet, North America’s tallest peak often hides behind clouds, and only a small percentage of visitors get to see the entire mountain. Seeing the summit completely visible felt like an incredible gift and made an already amazing visit even more unforgettable.

If Alaska is on your family’s bucket list, don’t skip Denali National Park. Whether you’re exploring the visitor center, earning a Junior Ranger badge, or simply soaking in the breathtaking scenery, it’s a place that inspires wonder in kids and adults alike.

✨⛏️ Step back in time and strike gold with your family at Klondike Gold Rush National Historical Park in Skagway, Alaska! 🇺🇸🏔️

This town was so much fun for the girls! The park’s Junior Ranger Program is an incredible way to bring history to life. Children can pick up a Junior Ranger booklet at the Visitor Center, complete fun, hands-on activities while exploring Skagway’s historic buildings and exhibits, then return it to earn their official Junior Ranger badge. It’s an interactive adventure that teaches the story of the Klondike Gold Rush while inspiring the next generation of park stewards. Even adults can participate and earn a badge by completing additional activities!

Beyond the park, Skagway is a charming, walkable town that feels like stepping into the late 1800s. We enjoyed the historic streets, took a ride on the White Pass & Yukon Route Railroad roll through town, browse unique local shops, enjoyed a Klondike Doughboy and let the kids burn off energy at the community playground. It’s the perfect mix of history, outdoor adventure, and small-town Alaskan charm.

Whether you’re visiting by cruise ship or spending a few days exploring Southeast Alaska, Skagway offers unforgettable experiences for every age. It’s proof that learning about history can be just as exciting as any adventure.

While visiting Redstone, Colorado we stumbled upon the cutest little museum - telling the story of this remarkable company town built by industrialist John Cleveland Osgood in the early 1900s. From the rise of the coal and coke industry to the lives of the families who called Redstone home, every exhibit offers a glimpse into a fascinating chapter of Colorado’s past.

Whether you’re exploring the iconic Redstone Coke Ovens, admiring the historic architecture, or simply enjoying the charm of this mountain community, a stop at the Redstone Museum adds a deeper appreciation for the people and history that shaped the region.

🏔️ Hidden among the towering red cliffs of Colorado lies one of the state’s most fascinating pieces of industrial history—the Redstone Coke Ovens.

Built in the late 1890s, these iconic beehive-shaped ovens once played a vital role in Colorado’s booming steel industry. Coal mined nearby was baked at extremely high temperatures to produce coke, a fuel essential for steel manufacturing. At their peak, 249 ovens burned around the clock, helping fuel the growth of the American West.

Today, the beautifully preserved stone ovens stand as a reminder of Colorado’s mining heritage and the hardworking communities that shaped this region. Walking among them, it’s easy to imagine the heat, smoke, and constant activity that once filled this quiet valley.

It’s no secret that our family loves to travel - even though the summer has just started, we have already enjoyed an extended camping trip in Moab, Utah, camping, hiking and enjoying Arches and Canyonlands National Park. My kids enjoy the Junior Ranger program and if you’re in the United States and able to visit any of the parks, I highly recommend looking into this for your little explorers.
