Creative Roots is more than just summer fun!

As summer comes to an end, we’re already getting ready for what’s next at Creative Roots!

We’ll be seeing many of you again very soon with new workshops, creative activities, educational programs, and tutoring sessions throughout the school year.

We intentionally keep our groups small for each session so every child can receive more individual attention, feel comfortable, and get the most out of their experience.

Spots will fill quickly, so stay connected with us and watch for upcoming registration!

Julian’s Pen Writing Workshops at Creative Roots

Help your student grow as a confident writer with engaging, hands-on workshops led by Julian’s Pen at Creative Roots. Whether your child is building creative storytelling skills, strengthening academic writing, or preparing for college applications, these small-group workshops provide expert instruction, personalized feedback, and opportunities to create polished, professional writing.

Programs include:

* Writer’s Circle Workshop (Grades 6+) – A six-week creative writing series where students develop original stories while learning character development, plot, dialogue, point of view, revision techniques, and more. Each student completes a professional writing portfolio.
* Back to School Writing Refresh (Grades 6–8) – A one-day academic writing workshop designed to help students start the school year with confidence by reviewing sentence structure, essay organization, evidence-based writing, transitions, and revision strategies.
* College Writing Boot Camp (High School Juniors & Seniors) – An intensive college admissions essay workshop that guides students through brainstorming, drafting, revising, and polishing compelling personal essays for college and scholarship applications.
* Spooky Halloween Tales (Grades 6+) – A seasonal creative writing workshop where students learn to build suspense, create unforgettable characters and settings, craft plot twists, and write their own original spooky story.

All materials are provided, and students receive individualized instruction in a supportive, encouraging environment. Whether they dream of becoming authors, want to improve their classroom writing, or need help preparing for college, these workshops are designed to inspire creativity while building lifelong writing skills.
