Good Morning All!

We are happy to announce that Morris will be hosting the first annual McKinley McGirt Memorial Tournament on Saturday, November 7th here in Morris. This will be an OSSAA style event the weekend before Regionals open to all Academic Bowl teams regardless of class size.

Additionally, all proceeds made from entry fees to this event will be donated to a charitable organization that supports individuals undergoing cancer treatment (McKinley's mom will be choosing the organization, we will update you with the choice later).

If you know a team who may be interested shoot them the link below, we would love as many teams as possible to help us honor McKinley and those who helped her!

Welcome Back All!!

We may have been quiet on social media but that doesn't mean we haven't been hard at work preparing for the season!

This Saturday teams from our HS and MS will compete at the Oklahoma Early Fall Tournament in Norman. While we hope to represent Morris well at this first national tournament of the year, Saturday means much more for us than just quiz bowl.

This Saturday is the annual St. Jude Walk and we as a team will once again be participating virtually in honor of McKinley McGirt. As we compete and walk in her honor this weekend we ask that you consider giving a gift to St. Jude's in her memory.

In September, supporters in communities across the country will participate in the St. Jude Walk. This exciting, family-friendly event helps raise funds to support the lifesaving mission of St. Jude during Childhood Cancer Awareness Month.

Our MS Nationals team returned home today and although we didn’t reach our goal of making it to playoffs, this team put up the highest average score for any Morris MS team to date, improving the previous year’s average score by 65 points, a 40% increase. Next, we send our 8th graders off to HS quiz bowl, then take some time off. In July, we dive back in with quiz bowl camp before starting the run for playoffs all over again!

Our MS run for playoffs came down to the final match yesterday in a win or go home contest. The team came up short and finished the tournament 4-4, missing playoffs by one win. We’re very proud of these players and how they performed yesterday! The pressure of performing at nationals is unlike any other tournament. They’ve all gained valuable experience for their return to HS and MS quizbowl next year. Today, the team will see Chicago’s historic Navy Pier and watch the playoffs and finals of the 2026 MSNCT.
