Recap of last night’s scrimmage from KVOM 101.7:
A 30-yard touchdown pass from senior Ja’Kobe Chambers to senior Jashawn Walls late in the half was the only scoring play for the Morrilton High School football team Tuesday night in a preseason benefit game against Conway. The Wampus Cats found the endzone on all five of their possessions and outscored the Devil Dogs, 35-7, in the two quarters of live timed action in Conway.
Chambers connected with senior Bradley Cooper on a 41-yard pass play earlier in the game and completed seven of his nine pass attempts for 105 yards with the one touchdown and one interception. Chambers split reps at quarterback with sophomore Maddox Turnipseed, who completed four of his six attempts for 18 yards. Cooper was the leading receiver with three catches for 53 yards. Junior Caleb Hays and sophomore Davion Johnson split carries out of the backfield and combined to rush for 42 yards on 17 carries.
The Devil Dogs will open their regular season next Friday, August 28th, at home against Russellville.
