Over the weekend Bad Dog Robotics of Morrilton Sr. High school competed in their first regional robotics competition of the year at Alma High school.
We had two teams numbers 11607A and 11607B.
By the end of the qualifying matches 11607A had ranked in 1st place and 11607B had ranked in 8th place. This is a hugh accomplishment for our students as this is the first year that either bot has ranked in any competition let alone both bots.
We had a gruelling first round of quarterfinals with both teams winning their individual matches. However, in the semi-finals we were torn apart as both teams were pitted against each other to see who would go to the final round for first place. Some toes got stepped on and some feelings got hurt but in the end both teams were good sports about it and returned home still friends.
11607A, after winning semi-finals 2-1, faced off against their greatest rivals of the competition - Bryant. We were soundly beaten in the first round but we came back in the second cutting it to the wire. The match was close with our team valiantly trying to score some last second points only to find that the scoring goal was a few centimeters off the ground. We lost the second round by one point, MAN.
In the end we did not get any trophy for our hard work or our insane rise to fame at this years competition but we left with our heads held high because we had accomplished more than we ever had in the past and had been the giants at competition that we have always wanted to be.
