Robotics is starting up again, we will be working on preparations for this years competition: Turning Point.

This weekend our Robotics team got invited to participate in the Arkansas State Championship. We did not expect to get to go so we were surprised and a little rushed.

We made it to competition and worked hard with a robot that after much work had few errors and performed beautifully. But we met our match as we were paired against powerful teams time after time during the qualifying rounds. We ended up with 3 wins and 3 close loses which ranked us as 15th in the state.

Though we were not able to bring home the much desired state trophy we did hold our heads up high as we went home realizing that this was our 3rd year in robotics and in that short amount of time we have gone from last and lowest to 15th in the state. We have worked hard and still have a long way to go as we persevere through next year's tournaments a little wiser and a little better.

Bad Dog Robotics is proud to inform that last nights chili cook-off was a success, we have raised $434.30 that will go into funding for materials and future competitions.
The robotics team would like to take a moment and thank all of the cooks, the volunteers, and for the donations. We would also like to give a personal thanks to Phyllis McKuin and Barry McKuin for their generous donation.

Thank you all.

Over the weekend Bad Dog Robotics of Morrilton Sr. High school competed in their first regional robotics competition of the year at Alma High school.

We had two teams numbers 11607A and 11607B.
By the end of the qualifying matches 11607A had ranked in 1st place and 11607B had ranked in 8th place. This is a hugh accomplishment for our students as this is the first year that either bot has ranked in any competition let alone both bots.

We had a gruelling first round of quarterfinals with both teams winning their individual matches. However, in the semi-finals we were torn apart as both teams were pitted against each other to see who would go to the final round for first place. Some toes got stepped on and some feelings got hurt but in the end both teams were good sports about it and returned home still friends.

11607A, after winning semi-finals 2-1, faced off against their greatest rivals of the competition - Bryant. We were soundly beaten in the first round but we came back in the second cutting it to the wire. The match was close with our team valiantly trying to score some last second points only to find that the scoring goal was a few centimeters off the ground. We lost the second round by one point, MAN.

In the end we did not get any trophy for our hard work or our insane rise to fame at this years competition but we left with our heads held high because we had accomplished more than we ever had in the past and had been the giants at competition that we have always wanted to be.
