Observing Nature – K-12 Call For Entry

This call for artwork is open to Arkansas students, kindergarten through 12th grade, whether enrolled in public school, private school, virtual school, or home school. Entrants must fill out the online entry form before the deadline date and submit a digital image of the artwork. The online entry form will open 9 a.m., Monday, August 19, 2024, and close at 5 p.m., Friday, December 20, 2024.

Beginning January 2025, the Windgate Museum of Art will display K-12 student artwork which expresses the theme of Observing Nature. Inspired by the heartfelt work of Mississippi artist Walter Anderson, we’re encouraging students to submit 2D artworks in any medium that shows direct observation of plants, animals, or landscapes.

All artworks should be submitted in high-resolution digital format. Please, do not send in the originals. Submitted artwork will be reviewed and 80 artworks will be selected across all grades. All exhibiting students will receive an award certificate and students whose artwork is selected, as well as their families, will be honored at a reception following the exhibition opening.

I'm excited to share the incredible artwork created by my talented art students! If you have a moment, I'd greatly appreciate it if you could take a look and vote for your favorite piece.

You can find the artwork towards the end of the page, starting with Gililam's "Colors of the Wind" and ending with Rainey's "As You Wish." Your support means a lot to us, and your vote will help determine the Fan Favorite award winner.

The winning artwork will be proudly displayed in my Little Rock office for an entire year, so every vote counts! Please cast your vote by Friday, April 19, 2024, at 10 PM CT.

Thank you for your time and support in celebrating the creativity and talent of our students.

The Fan Favorite award will be hung in my Little Rock office for one year. Deadline to vote is Friday, April 19, 2024 at 10 PM CT. By participating in this survey, you agree to receive future communications and updates from my office.
