Fiber-integrated oil paintings and dimensional fiber art rooted in animal provenance. Each fiber holds a memory.

Using fibers from animals I have raised & known, I create work where fiber becomes part of the structure, emerging from the painted surface. Tomorrow, I'm opening the studio doors—virtually. 💜

I've been choosing the paintings we'll look at, the details I want to bring right up to the camera, and the stories that photographs can't tell.

But I don't want 𝙇𝙊𝙊𝙆 𝘾𝙇𝙊𝙎𝙀𝙍 to feel like a presentation you're simply watching.

I want it to feel like you've pulled up a chair in the studio with me.

I'll show you the artwork. Tell you what you can't know just by looking at it online. And when something makes you curious, ask me.

There are things I can show you in a photograph.

Color. Composition. The overall shape of a painting.

And then there are the things that are much harder to capture.

How far a curl actually extends from the surface.

What happens when you move from one side of a painting to the other.

Where fiber disappears into paint—and where it suddenly emerges again.

The tiny details you don't notice until you get close.

In two days, I'm going to show you those things.

We'll begin 𝙇𝙊𝙊𝙆 𝘾𝙇𝙊𝙎𝙀𝙍 with 𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗣𝗵𝗼𝘁𝗼𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗽𝗵𝘀 𝗖𝗮𝗻'𝘁 𝗖𝗮𝗽𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲—and I'll bring the artwork right up to the camera so we can explore it together.

I've been deciding which details to show you, which stories to tell—and which things I'd rather let you discover with me live.

Because there are parts of these paintings that even the best photograph doesn't quite explain.

On Friday, we'll begin there.

Then over three days, we'll move from what you can see → to the stories you can't see → to what happens when an artwork begins to feel like yours.

No. Join me for whichever sessions you can. Each day has a different focus, and registered guests will also have access to the replays.

Absolutely not. You don't need the right vocabulary—or even know what you're supposed to be looking for. Curiosity is enough.

Three days. Three very different ways to look at original art.

During 𝙇𝙊𝙊𝙆 𝘾𝙇𝙊𝙎𝙀𝙍, each day we'll explore another layer.

𝗗𝗮𝘆 𝟭 — 𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗣𝗵𝗼𝘁𝗼𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗽𝗵𝘀 𝗖𝗮𝗻'𝘁 𝗖𝗮𝗽𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲
We'll get closer to the actual surfaces—the dimensional fiber, layers, color, and details that are difficult to experience through a screen.

We'll go beneath the surface into the animals, materials, memories, places, and decisions that became part of particular paintings.

We'll shift the conversation to living with original art—what draws us to certain pieces, what makes a connection last, and how you recognize when an artwork might belong in your life.

What happens after you've walked past a painting a hundred times?

Maybe the color you noticed first isn't your favorite part anymore.

Maybe you've discovered a detail you barely saw when you brought it home.

Morning light catches one area. Evening light finds another.

And somewhere along the way, the painting stops feeling like something you added to a room.

It becomes part of the room. Part of the familiar landscape of your life.

That's what interests me about living with original art.

Not simply the first impression—but what it continues giving back after the hundredth look.

𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗥𝗲𝗱𝗯𝘂𝗱 𝗛𝗼𝗹𝗱𝘀 𝗛𝗲𝗿 began with a photograph of 𝗕𝗼𝗻𝗻𝗶𝗲 taken on her last day.

But I wasn't trying to recreate the photograph.

The redbud came later. It was a young tree, just beginning its first year of new growth—and that became important to the painting.

There was grief in the memory of 𝗕𝗼𝗻𝗻𝗶𝗲, but there was also this little tree doing exactly what living things do: growing.

Life keeps moving forward even when part of us would rather it stop for a while. New things take root. Beauty returns. Joy and grief can somehow occupy the same landscape.

And another animal became part of the story, too. Mohair from 𝗗𝗮𝗶𝘀𝘆 is physically integrated into the painting.

The finished piece holds different moments and lives together: 𝗕𝗼𝗻𝗻𝗶𝗲, the young redbud, 𝗗𝗮𝗶𝘀𝘆'𝘀 fiber, and my own memories of a place and animals that mattered deeply to me.

One of the things I'm looking forward to most during 𝙇𝙊𝙊𝙆 𝘾𝙇𝙊𝙎𝙀𝙍 is giving away an original Fiber-Integrated Oil Painting.

This is 𝘽𝙚𝙮𝙤𝙣𝙙 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝘽𝙡𝙪𝙚, and it's one of the original artworks the winner may choose from.

Rather than selecting a single prize in advance, I wanted the winner to choose the piece that feels right to them.

That seems fitting somehow.

The goal has never been to convince someone to love a particular painting. It's to help the right person recognize when a piece feels like theirs.

During 𝙇𝙊𝙊𝙆 𝘾𝙇𝙊𝙎𝙀𝙍, you'll have multiple ways to earn entries, and at the end of the event one winner will be invited to choose from a small selection of original Fiber-Integrated Oil Paintings.

Some of the best conversations about art happen when no one is giving a presentation.

They happen when people are together, looking, talking, asking questions, sharing what they notice—and sometimes seeing something differently because someone else noticed it first.

This photo was taken on a train in France after spending time with fellow Atelier AIR artists. It reminds me how much I value that kind of exchange.

It’s also part of why I wanted 𝙇𝙊𝙊𝙆 𝘾𝙇𝙊𝙎𝙀𝙍 to be live.

I could simply show you photographs of the artwork and tell you about it. But I'd much rather have a conversation.

You can ask me why I made a particular choice. Where a fiber came from. What changed along the way. Or point out something you've noticed that I haven't even mentioned.

Because sometimes a conversation changes what we see.
