’Twas the night before school, and the first graders knew,
That tomorrow was coming with much to do!
But they weren’t feeling nervous, they felt brave and bright,
For the second graders had made things just right.

They wrote them some letters with stories to share,
About all the fun things that happen in there.
So the first graders smiled and felt ready to go,
Excited for school and ready to grow!

Pictures are from last year when the old 1st graders (now 2nd graders) delivered their friendly letters to the new 1st graders (then kindergartners).

Parents: If at all possible, PLEASE be mindful when you are scheduling appointments and vacations. The school calendar is posted online and we have handy magnetic school calendars for you.

Let’s make it our goal to improve school attendance this year.

We are excited for the return of students to fill our classrooms and hallways.

Morning Sun Families,

Welcome back to the 2026-2027 school year! Below, you will find information about E-Registration for this year. Please see below for information on navigating the process. E-Registration is open. We will have an in person night on August 10th from 4-7 if you need help.

If you are new to the district, welcome! Please follow the steps below:

1. Fill out the information in the form
2. Fill in the required information
3. Your information will be reviewed, and once approved, you will receive a notification from E-Registration.

Returning families, please follow the steps below:

1. To register, please go to your PowerSchool account at https://mscsd.powerschool.com/public/
2.Click “Forms” on the left side of the page.
3. This will bring you to the E-Registration screen, where you click through all forms until this says Acknowedgement Completed
4. Go back to the left side and scroll down to Home Language Survey and complete it.
5. You have now completed E-Registration for your son/daughter!
6. ** If you have more than one child, you must complete E-Registration for each child.** To change a student: scroll to the top of the page and click the name of the child you are registering. Once submitted, click the next name, and the system will take you to a new set of E-Registration forms.

School Registration:

Wow! Where has the summer gone? 🧐🤷🏻‍♂️

We are 4 weeks away from the start of school.

Online registration is now open for anyone wanting to get it done and checked off the list of things to do.

PLEASE be sure you go through all areas of the registration process so that everything is updated and ready for the new year.

Anyone needing assistance with the registration process, the school will be open August 10, 3:00 - 7:00. School cafeteria.

Morning Sun Community:

We have had a few people and groups asking how they can support the school and students with school supplies.

We greatly appreciate any kind of donations, like school supplies or money. Any money will be used to buy supplies for students and families in need.

Donations can be dropped off at school.

Morning Sun Community School District is accepting bids for concrete work. We request that interested parties submit separate bids for the two indicated areas, as budget will dictate the ultimate scope of the work that will be completed. Bids should include demolition and removal of existing concrete, and the installation of 4" of concrete with all appropriate and necessary reinforcements.

A pre-bid meeting will be held on July 30th at 8:00am in the school library.

Sealed bids must be received by August 6 at 4:00pm and should be delivered to Mike Peterson at Morning Sun Elementary School.
