We are almost through the first quarter. Just like the weather we have nice, sunny days and we have dark stormy days but we know that God is in the midst of each and every day.
We are saving Our Family labels and using the Box Tops for Education app in hopes of purchasing a digital microscope this year. We think it would be a fun addition to our Academy. If you shop Our Family stores and have no place to turn UPC's in, please consider the Academy.

It is a beautiful fall morning at the Academy! Every once in a while we see a glimpse of God's beauty. But just as the camera cannot capture the full beauty of the sunrise, we can't quite take in all of God's goodness and splendor.

We now have six weeks behind us. While most of the students are not exactly where they should be, they are moving in the right direction.

On Friday, God blessed us with perfect weather for an outing. The students who achieved a privilege level in the month of September got to go to The Golf Center to play a round of Putt Putt golf. They got lunch at McDonald's and also had ice cream at the Golf Center. Almost all of the students were able to participate in this event.

There was no brick painting this week but there was some dessert making. Carrot cake blondies, cosmic brownies, and a sherbet dessert were whipped up in the kitchen. Yum!

To encourage a Christlike attitude, we give students character coins when we see them modeling a Christlike characteristic. We have been passing more of them out which means your prayers are being heard and answered. We truly appreciate all of you who lift the staff and students up in prayer. God is faithful in hearing and answering each prayer.

Just over 5 weeks into the school year and a lot of tests have been taken. Most of the students are staying on track thanks to earning privilege levels. Book reports are being turned in and oral reports given every week so they are striving to do better and better.

Those with privileges this week did more brick painting and cookie baking. Last week two students made popcorn chicken, fried pickles, and mashed potatoes and sent a dish home with students and staff. One student made milkshakes for everyone. We call this educational so we can do it with privileges.

Friday was our first 'Fancy Friday'. A day where students can dress up and lose the polos for a day. The Academy provides dinner on this day and if parents can afford to, they can donate the money they save on lunch that day which we will donate to a good cause in the Spring.

As always, thank you for your prayers and keep them coming! That's what keeps us going.

What impact does BCA have on students? This is a shortened version of the speech that last year's graduate gave at her graduation. (posted with permission)

"First, I want to thank God for bringing me to this moment. There were times when I doubted myself, times when I felt overwhelmed, and times when I wondered what my future would look like. But through every challenge, every lesson, and every season of growth, God remained faithful.
Being the only graduate in my class has been a unique journey. At times it felt lonely, and sometimes it felt like all eyes were on me. But looking back now, I realize that God used this experience to teach me independence, perseverance, and the importance of leaning on Him even when the path feels different from everyone else's.
Attending a Christian school has impacted my life in more ways than academics alone. I didn't just learn math, science, and history - I learned about faith, grace, compassion, and purpose. I learned that success is not measured only by accomplishments, but by the kind of person you become along the way. I learned that God has a plan for each of us, even when we cannot fully understand it ourselves.
Tonight is not just about receiving a diploma. It is about celebrating faithfulness, growth, and the beginning of a new chapter. Although I may be graduating alone, I know I have never truly walked alone. God has been beside me every step of the way."

In Daniel 5, a hand appears and writes a message on the wall telling of impending doom. We had 2 students reach a privilege level this week and earned the privilege of painting the bricks on one wall, once they have completed their goals for the day. Instead of impending doom, we are looking at the paint a sign of renewal and refreshment. The Academy is going back to tried and true methods while going forward with new ideas and a fresh outlook. We are still early in the year, but we have already seen and heard positive feedback. Please keep praying as that is one way everyone can be a part of the Academy.

What a full first week of school. We don't know if the students or staff were happier to see 3:00 Friday roll around but the staff was sure smiling! Getting back into a routine is always hard and the students were adjusting not only to being back in school, but also to some changes in academic time.

We are really excited that a new student join us this week! We think he will be a great addition to the learning center.

It brought great delight to see the students laughing and having fun on breaks. The gaga ball pit and new swing got broken in but the old equipment didn't get left out.

Please continue to pray for staff and students as we all settle in.

What a blessing! This afternoon we had some Academy students, staff, and family of students and staff meet to build a gaga ball pit and swing. The gaga ball pit was purchased from the funds raised at the spaghetti dinner and auction this past Spring. While it was a lot of work, it was also a good time. Thank you so much to all who helped.
We have had a great start to the new school year. It is so wonderful to see the smiles on the faces of the students and to hear their laughter as they interact with each other. As always, your prayers are greatly appreciated!

What is BCA?

Background
The Brockway Christian Academy was started in 1978 to give a Biblical based education to children of the Brockway church. It has since been opened up to all children, not just those in the church, but still teaches students based on Biblical principles, with an emphasis on instilling Godly character.

How it Works
BCA treats each student as an individual. It uses self-paced material so each student moves through and learns based on their own ability, making sure they master each new subject before moving on. Developing good character is woven into every aspect of their learning. It is woven into each subject as well as daily class times.

Using self-paced material also lets BCA students get a quality education in a budget-friendly way. Instead of the expense of hiring teachers for every subject, we have trained staff that can help students through the difficult areas and keep them motivated. They get the advantages seen in a good home-school education, while still having the opportunities to socialize and interact with others.

So why BCA? Because BCA provides a quality education that builds student character, as well as their minds.
