Bloom Learning Center Bloom is a preschool learning center operating on a daycare schedule to accommodate schedules of working parents. Bloom is open year round.

Bloom is a Reggio Inspired play based learning experiences and year round outside play. Locations: Moriches, Riverhead, Quogue, Southampton Bloom provides parents with quality child care for their children. Care is offered Monday thru Friday 7:00am-5:00pm for children ages 1 to 10 years of age. Bloom offers infant, toddler, preschool & pre-k classes as well as summer camp. 2, 3, 4 & 5 day, flexible schedules are available.

Learning doesn’t have to stay inside the classroom.

The same foundational skills children are working to master indoors can easily be brought outside. A letter-matching activity, a chalkboard and some fresh air turn literacy practice into a completely different experience.

Changing the environment doesn’t change the learning goal—it simply gives children another way and another place to practice it.

The classroom doesn’t have to have four walls.

There are foundational skills children work to master throughout their early years—cutting, pouring, sorting, counting, building, balancing, problem solving and so much more.

Our job as teachers is to create opportunities for children to practice those skills again and again through hands-on experiences.

And those experiences don’t have to stay inside the classroom.

Bring the scissors outside. Bring the blocks outside. Bring the art materials outside. Take the learning somewhere new.

A pile of leaves and a pair of scissors can be curriculum.

It really can be that simple.

If you asked Miss Tara, our owner, her favorite morning meeting activity, she wouldn’t hesitate: flannel board stories.

Children love stories, but they love them even more when they get to become part of the story. Moving the pieces, predicting what comes next, retelling it in their own words and, eventually, telling the story themselves.

And there is so much learning tucked inside. Colors, numbers, shapes, language, sequencing, memory—you name it, there’s a flannel board story for it.

We love seeing teachers across our campuses sharing Miss Tara’s love of this simple, old-school classroom favorite with their children.

Every school year at Bloom starts with All About Me.

Before we can build a classroom community, we have to get to know the people in it. What makes me special? What makes my friends special? What makes our families special?

These first few weeks are about creating a space where every child knows they belong, where they feel seen, loved and important.

Because before the learning comes the connection. Before anything else, children need community, love and trust.

This September, we’re putting a big focus on enhancing play across all of our Bloom campuses.

Children today spend so much of their time in structured activities or on devices that many simply haven’t had enough opportunities to learn how to play.

As early childhood educators, some of our most important work happens through play. We’re teaching children how to interact with others, care for themselves and their friends, follow simple routines and directions, solve problems, use their imaginations, and become part of a classroom community.

One way we’re doing that is by encouraging our teachers to look at their play centers and ask: What could I add here to make children want to stay, explore, talk and play a little longer?

Check out what Miss Jenni & Mr. Danny at our Southampton campus added to their block center. I think the children recognize a few of these faces!
