Calvary Academy is a Christ-centered microschool focused on discipleship, nurturing students academically, spiritually, and socially.

🍂 Treasures from God's Creation 🍂

Last week our students headed outside with little baskets and one simple mission: collect anything they could find that came from the earth! They came back with all kinds of treasures, from acorns and leaves to rocks, pinecones, and more.

Back in the classroom, they recorded their finds in their journals and turned their collections into beautiful crafts. It was such a joy to watch them slow down, look closely, and marvel at the details God put into even the smallest things.

Nature studies are a special part of learning at Calvary Academy. Time outdoors builds curiosity, observation skills, and a love for learning, and most of all, it gives our students a chance to see the Creator's handiwork all around them.

Almost a month ago, our littlest Lions walked through the doors of Calvary Academy for the very first time. Since then, our one-room schoolhouse has become a true family, full of learning, laughter, and plenty of God's grace.

A few highlights from our first month:
✨ We welcomed our very first visitor! Miss Debby Gump spent a few days with us and led a special story time and craft based on the book Humble Pie. Our students loved every minute, and it sparked some sweet conversations about humility.
✨ Our electives have been a blast, especially gym class with Coach Drew! 🏃‍♀️
✨ And lots and lots of hugs for Miss Missi! 🤗 Our Lions adore their teacher, and it shows every single day. (We just couldn't resist sharing this group hug!)

We are so grateful for our families, our amazing teachers, and the Calvary Chapel Morgantown church family who made this dream possible. God has been faithful every single day.

"His compassions fail not. They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness." (Lamentations 3:22–23)

Here's to many more months of learning, growing, and giving Him the glory! 🙌

Our first few days of school are officially in the books, and what a joy it's been! 💛 From new friendships forming to little hands diving into learning, watching this first week come to life has been such a gift. We are so grateful for each family that has trusted us with your children, and we can't wait to see all the growth, giggles, and God-given moments still ahead this year.

We know it's been quiet around here lately - but that's because we've been busy behind the scenes getting everything ready for our very first school year! 📚✨

Tonight is Meet the Teacher Night, and we cannot wait to welcome our families into the classroom, meet our teachers, and celebrate the start of something so special together.

And next week... we officially begin! We are beyond excited to open our doors and start this journey of learning and growing alongside your families.

Classroom Update! 🧡

A few weeks ago, we showed you a blank room and boxes of supplies waiting to be unpacked. Look how far we've come!

📚 Our library center is taking shape, ready for cozy story time
✏️ Our writing center is getting set up for little authors to do big things
🎭 Our dramatic play center is coming together for imagination and pretend

It's really starting to feel like a classroom! We still have some finishing touches ahead, but we're loving watching this space come to life.

We are so excited to introduce you to Amy, our Classroom Aide at Calvary Academy! Amy is a pastor's wife alongside her husband at Mountain Heights Church, and a mom to three children, including her youngest who will be joining us this fall at Calvary Academy.�

Amy's heart for children has taken many forms over the years. She studied early childhood education before stepping into the incredible work of church planting alongside her husband, and she has since poured that same love into working in a daycare, serving as a nanny, working in the kitchen of another local Christian school, and homeschooling her son this past year. Calvary Academy felt like the perfect next step for Amy, a chance to stay close to her own children while leaning fully into her passion for working with kids.�

In her own words: "I think that at a Christian school like Calvary, children are given the best opportunity to learn that Jesus is in everything, not just Bible class."�

We are so grateful God brought Amy to Calvary Academy, and we cannot wait for your children to know and love her too!

🤍 Get to Know Our Lead Teacher

We are so excited to introduce you to Missi, our Lead Teacher at Calvary Academy! With a Bachelor's in K-8 education, a Master's in Reading, and over 10 years in the classroom, Missi has spent her career pouring into children, following God's leading from school to school until she found a home here at Calvary Chapel. Now she gets to do what she has always longed for: teach from a Biblical perspective, disciple children, and speak openly about her faith.

In her own words: "I love being part of building the foundation for the rest of a child's learning. Children at this age are like sponges, ready to soak up everything we offer them."

Under construction! 🔨 Our classroom is officially in transformation mode. Furniture has been loaded in, cabinets and whiteboards are being rearranged, and centers and desks will soon start to take shape. Over the next few weeks you will watch this room go from a blank slate to a space ready to shape young minds, so stay tuned and make sure you're following along for pictures once it all comes together.

We're grateful for the freedom to raise our children in the fear and admonition of the Lord. The freedom to open the school day with prayer. To teach history with the Bible as our foundation. To say plainly that Jesus is Lord in every subject, every circle time, every closing prayer. That freedom is not something we take for granted.

So this weekend, as we celebrate our nation, we're also giving thanks to the One from whom all true freedom flows. It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Happy Fourth from our Calvary Academy family to yours.
