The WVU Cancer Institute has named Maeve Morris, Stuart Clayton, and McKinzey Dierkes (pictured above) as recipients of its Fall 2026 Dissertation Research Awards. The six-month awards provide graduate students with dedicated time and support to complete dissertation research, publish manuscripts, and prepare for their dissertation defense.

Morris, mentored by Jonathan Busada, PhD, will study the impact of electronic cigarette exposure on Helicobacter pylori pathogenesis and gastric cancer risk.
